Thanks Phat, welcome back!!
I assumed the CE would give the GT63S a run but didnt think the RS7 would be that far behind in the speed tests.

Yeah seems like the new RS7 didn't improved upon the previous version in terms of performance, maybe even the F10 M5 can still beat it on track.

The RS7 read is disappointing. That car is outright slow. 1.5+ sec. to 200km/h means the BMW/MB are gone in the distance...
Plus the heaviest of them all. 80lbs for the wheels alone. Not forged? Surprised that the AWD still considered behind the others, given the updates. One big surprise is that the AMG GT63s is actually cheaper than the M8 Competition in Germany (1000 Euros). Base GT63s in the US is $15k more expensive with more base option in the M8c. Makes the GT63s much more compelling there IMO Last edited by Wolfman64; 01-14-2020 at 08:32 PM.. |

To be frank, given the 4 Wheel Steering in the Audi, its cross axle air suspension, I was expecting it to be a lot faster than it was in reality. Disappointing result. Maybe the chassis is pretty good, but the engine really lacks the power and grunt to deal with the other 2. Maybe the Performance version will fix that.

From what I could tell it is not fixed, but it can't do the full RWD thing like the GT and the M5.

Audi is strong in sports car racing so they clearly know how to design proper handling cars but the fact that they repeatedly putting out cars that don't do well on track compare to its competition, tells me it's not their priority. I think people in general are partial to a brand and won't pick another brand just because of a better number. |

I'd bet my life on the bmw spec p zero being faster for racing than the bmw spec ps4s. It's not the tire compound's fault the m5 is just lacking in rear width so you see it over steering like a madman in every lap time video. The gt63s, although the car is much slower if tires were not a variable, has much more stable corner exits because of way wider rears and rear wheel steering. The difference is also shown in their top speeds of the lap, the amg can start gassing it out of a corner way before the bmw but ends up having almost identical lap time because the m5 has better front grip.

Not at all impressed with the new A7 design and the S7/RS7 numbers are....underwhelming.
I feel like Audi is going to experience with this A7/S7/RS7 the same thing Benz did after their awesome first generation CLS.....it's really downhill from there. The second generation CLS was underwhelming and the current generation even more so. I just feel Audi in general isn't what it was 5 years ago.....none of their models.

The weight of the wheels plus the overall weight of the RS7 strikes me as just the standard Audi mindset - they just don't care about handling all that much. The speed around the track is disappointing but no surprising.
Phat - good to see you posting, I was thinking about 2 weeks ago I hadn't seen one of the magazine tests I'm used to you posting up for a while

Hate to say but the GT63s looked most composed on track (and sounded the best). M5 had great acceleration though.
Wonder why the P Zero's are used by BMW for the M5 while all M8's appear to be PS4s... This is obviously a deliberate action by BMW. |
