Low frequency cut out from stereo

Hello,

Revisiting this subject but couldn’t find old threads.

‘21 F90 here. Very rarely, the stereo will seem to cut out low frequencies/bass (no matter what mode/input is selected). It also affects the “sound control” for the exhaust and does not pipe back in the low frequencies.

I’ve tried holding the volume knob/power button to manually reset iDrive but this does nothing to bring back the low frequencies back. It seems like the only way to get the bass back is to turn off car and let it sit for 10 mins to fully “power down”. Anyone else find a better solution to this? There is practically no way for me to replicate this issue to my dealership.

Thanks,
FS

Do you have the B&W sound system?

Gentle bump. Does anyone experience this same issue? And what do you do to resolve it?

I had the exact same issue where I heard no bass all of a sudden. I tried everything and the only thing that works is to completely shutdown and wait 10 minutes. I experience this issue about 5 times so far.

Thanks for your reply. This is exactly what I have found. It has happened a few times since brand new ownership. It’s really annoying, especially if you’re about to leave for a long journey.

What I’m wondering is there any other way to fix it? Besides turning the car off for 10 minutes? Resetting iDrive (holding radio power knob for 30 seconds) doesn’t fix it while driving.

Dealer replaced the amp and it fixed the issue.

Interesting!!! How did you duplicate the issue though? I’m not sure how I can reliably duplicate it for them to see. Or what did you tell them so that they agreed to fix the issue?

I had brought it in twice I believe for the issue.
Of course they couldn’t duplicate the issue but apparently they had seen the issue before and replaced the amp.

Did you ever get your issue resolved? I have the same issue in my 2021 M5 been dealing with it since I bought the car in 2022.

Not yet. This was a good reminder to ask my service rep. I’ll reply here if I find anything out.
