A more flexible solution has been considered and when you first hear the upcoming announcement you will know it makes sense.
I'm assuming you mean it'll be offered with Xdrive. However, lack of an I6 and RWD would be a deal breaker for me, thus why I see the upcoming M2 as my last chance

Why bother asking? I'm sure BMW will release it all types of variants to fill in the needs - coupe, sedan, GC, GT, convertible, hatchback, AT, X2...am I missing anything else?

I think he's hinting at the same thing. Purists strongly dislike Xdrive variants of rwd bmws. Scott, you really want us to appreciate an Xdrive version of a FWD BMW? I guess all 2 series buyers will have to upgrade to a 3/4 next time around to get a real BMW if that's the case.

If done right, it can be good/decent like the RS3 and CLA45AMG. Either way, that's the one thing the M2 will have going against those cars. Real RWD, I6 and a 6MT available. That's why I'm so excited about this car, and it's a shame that it'll kind of going to be the last of its kind that uses the typical BMW recipe

2series 4dr GC will sell me. My sister still drives around a e46 and I love that size/shape. Still looks great and classic.

New 3/4 series is far too bloated.

In my book, Haldex is no AWD. But hey, if BMW thinks its the right decision, which I think its not, let them do what they want to. Not my market anyway.

What is the difference between a 4-door "coupe" and a 4-door sedan?

A few degrees of slope in the rear.

The words "4 door coupe" should be banned. By definition a coupe should have only 2 doors.

A fifth door adds unnecessary weight.

+1000, would love a 2. The 3 is huge now. But the lack of 4 doors on the 2 is a hard sell to the wife - but no way in hell I'd drive a GT looking car. 4 door in general I think looks better than 5 door, even though 4GC is 5 door and looks better than the 4 door 3 series M2 GC ftw!

While some are saying it should be called a sedan, i'm completely ok with the marketing terminology if it means the sleeker GC look. I want a 4 door car that looks like a coupe. If it ends up looking like another boring sedan then I'm not interested. It always makes me chuckle that you take the 3, pay more to remove the rear doors and make it a coupe, then pay more to add them back as a gran coupe But the 4GC looks way better than the 3.

Today I was at the Nurburgring, mostly Bimmers an Porkers..........just shocking to see how big the current generation M3/4 is, how fat it has grown...

So for me there is one thing important, one thing only; BMW needs a smaller, lighter and more sportier version in their brand ASAP.

I do not care how its called, BMW has to go more "old school" IMHO

Bigger ain`t better
Bigger ain`t more beautiful
Bigger does not steer or drive better
Bigger does`t feel better (maybe your wife thinks different about this one) but I mean driving the car

[QUOTE=Ramos;18686409]People barely fit in 3 series? Really? Lol!!
In most countries outside the U.S., the 3 series is a huge car, I wasn't able to get into any underground parkings in Paris when I euro delivered my E90

I spent several weeks in Spain last year. A 1 series was mid sized. Parking a Polo sized car was about right, though the White towns in southern Spain, particularly Arcos de la Frontera was awkward in even that car...

"Excuse me... Is this a road? Or a sidewalk?"

Ha! Tourist...

A 'four door' coupe is the bastard offspring of an unwed coupe and sedan.

Coupé-not Couoe. Terms been around for awhile not not referring to a 2dr.

4-dr sedan has a trunk. A 4dr couoé seems to have a hatch (see Panamera, the A7, the 4GC. Etc although the Mercedes breaks that definition. Lol. They can call them whatever they want it seems.
