Tune?

I say you choose your weapon based on fuel quality, ambient air temperature for your area, dealership attitude on mods and the size of your wallet in case things go south.

Bootmod3 is the easiest to use with the most support and features.

Their OTS maps are strong, reliable, and safe.

In my opinion, its the best flash tune on the market

I don't think anyone here can answer that. I don't even think the tuners have that answer. Considering even an untuned engine can fail, the ones who tune are probably more susceptible to a failed engine or other parts. Speaking from experience on the AMG platform, I have always tuned my cars and had long tube headers. Never did I experience a catastrophic problem such as a blown engine. The only issues were O2 sensors always failing, belt snap, and other parts prematurely worn out.

With that said, everyone tunes at their own risk. I personally do not believe anyone can answer that with concrete proof.

No I definitely understand the risk in general in terms of tuning. I meant more on a scale what the risk is. That being said what I've seen from friends and reading the forum the common theme for failed engines on the f90 has been E85 tunes, Jb4 when upping the boost and custom maps.

The word that gets tossed around is bent rods so maybe someone else can chime in. I went with a DME Tune since they are local to me and catless downpipes. Figured if I run into issues, I am close enough to stop by them rather do everything through email or the phone.

It's an OTS map so not aggressively tuned, for more power they have the E30 map.

Each car is a little different, some have more luck than others. These motors as other mentioned can fail a rod bearing or bend a rod stock or tune, a lot of variables like weather(heat) how much you push it and quality of fuel at the time as well any premature parts.

The only way you can be 100% safe is stock.

Yes it does. We have tuned a number of brand new M5 and M8 Comps. Certain newer integration levels are protected and are only possible to flash via the Bench (meaning ECU removal or an in person appointment is required). Fortunately these ECUs are very accessible and programming them involves no physical modifications or opening.

Thanks for letting us know about the missing years from the selection page, we will have the web team address that

I saw this posted on the facebook group. Looks like the gig is up with flash tuning for now, BMW is automatically voiding the warranty when they plug in like Audi does with their TD1 aftermarket tuning designation. =/
