f90 m5 Stock exhaust question

Hey guys, I am about to pick up a f90 m5 in the next few months and had some questions regarding the exhaust.

does The stock exhaust with the chrome tips, backfire when put into sport plus, if not will a resonator delete cause it to backfire?

please post videos if possible im going with the regular non-competition

thanks!

It will burble even if it's the normal version as far as i know, however if you get rid of the resonators it will burble even more. I have the sport exhaust and it burbles quite a lot. you can find videos on youtube that compared the exhausts.

How about the M performance exhaust? Does that burble as well?

The burbles and backfires are a byproduct of the tune file not the exhaust ... the exhaust can change the tone and db levels but can not by itself create the backfires and burbles (overrun).

Resonator delete will be louder than competition.

If one is leasing, then getting the OEM sport midpipe and keeping stock muffler should do the trick right?

You can do the res delete option for anywhere from 100-200 bucks and its an easy weld back at lease return. To me the sound is worth it over trying to make the stock exhaust sound like the M Sport version (what the CE cars get). I have the M Sport from the factory (had) and it wasnt enough for me and the hyper insulated cabin. My friend has a "base" 2019 M5 and did the resonator pull only and damnn that thing is loud as fuck and close to the decibel levels as my catback Remus. But he doesnt get the tonal experience I have with the Remus.

The M Performance is a completely different product as you know.

Thanks Vic, I remember you saying that in prior posts. So just straight pipes on that would work, or get fancy with an X weld?

If I didn't want to weld for the fear that welds would get flagged on the lease return, then I imagine I can just get the AWE midsection, or something like it for a similar effect?

Just do a straight pipe with proper bends.

FYI BMWFS uses third party inspectors and they NEVER go under the car nor would they know about a "reweld" with resonator placed back on.

My M5 stock does plenty of burbling and noise on downshifts and Deceleration.

This is the setup I have and it is very loud and has tons of crackles and pops. It takes about 2-3k miles before it gets loud. The material in the M-Sport resonator needs to break down a bit. If I put the engine in Sport Plus, the pops and crackles are too loud to drive through my neighborhood without looking like a complete ass.

Mods done:

Resonator delete with straight pipes

Deleted h pipe with box between mufflers and capped mufflers

Stage 1 EC tune

30% E85

Charcoal delete as well.

Haven't done any down pipes n stuff yet.

Also DA in Austin has mostly been 3500 plus and temps low to mid 80s so 0-60 n trap times haven't been that great.

Best Street Time
Best 0-60 2.9
Best 1/4 10.74 129.22 MPH
Best 60-130 7.95

DA 3755
Temp 84 F

With better DA and cooler temps it should easily do better numbers.
