Long pull on left paddle
Do our cars have the long pull on the left paddle to downshift and hold for a roll race? I've heard some cars have this feature while in drive mode so you don't have to hunt for the lowest gear and having it go into manual mode.

downshift while pressing the kickdown. works in auto or manual[/QUOTE So no feature that auto chooses the lowest gear to hold for the given speed? So while maintaining 40mph, hold the left downshift paddle for a few seconds, car auto downshifts to be ready to roll at a higher RPM and then automatically roll through the gears, isn't an option? I've seen videos where AMG's and Hellcats have this. |

I assure you, the way AMG's downshift to the lowest possible gear (given current speed) is a laughable implementation, here's why: if I want the lowest possible gear given my current speed, what am I looking to accomplish? Immediate power, right. And yet, you have to hold the fucking thing for a whole second to get it--utter garbage. In an M-car, if you want the lowest possible gear--and hold it when in manual mode--then push the gas through the detent (pedal resistance point) and then pull the left paddle. I use this most frequently at around 62mph to jump from 5th to 3rd in order to have a hurricane of torque kick me in the back and off we go. Is this not what you're looking for? PS: can't speak for Hellcats as the closest I've ever come to one has been in my rear-view mirror. |
