Random Question for Dads of Teens
My son is 15 and by the end of this year will be allowed to have a learners permit and eventually a provisional license. There is no way in hell he is learning to drive in my M5 and the wife's giant SUV (Navigator L) is equally out of the question. We've already planned to get him a car, but is it crazy to sync the purchase with the time he gets his permit so he learns on his actual car and not our $100k cars?

Two of my 3 kids already drive; they learned in my wife's SUV with learner's permits
I purchased cars for them about 3 months before they were eligible for their Driver Licenses to essentially give them some time to learn to drive their own cars. So far, so good .. no tix or accidents. Knock on wood! I did let my now 20 year old drive both of my F10 M5's as well as my current F90 M5C .. with me in the car.

Totally going to have him work to pay for his own gas, insurance and any mods plus I'm buying something economical/reasonable... Besides buying cars is one of my favorite pastimes lol. Once the boy is older and has some experience under his belt I wouldn't mind him driving the M5 with me in it, it can be a completely mello car just not for day one.

Good topic.
I am still a few years away. But for sure they are not touching my toys.

I still did 80mph on a 45mph zone nearly every day. Teens will be teens. I'd probably do an old BMW just to make sure it's as safe for them as possible. You can pick up an E90 325 for a decent price.
