I’ve only heard good things about it and have it on my 2019 M5. Lease is up in April and will be buying it out, have GEICO MBI for piece of mind but can’t attest to how well it works as I haven’t used it yet.

I had Geico MBI on my old car. That car had a very expensive aftermarket stereo which I declared the value on so the equipment cost would be covered. They covered it for a couple of year but then dropped my coverage saying "excessive modification." I had to find another insurance company and I lost my MBI coverage.

I have it in all my vehicles. They used to be lifetime. Now it’s 7/100k
They are a pleasure to deal with and I highly Reccomemded it. They have sent inspectors to verify work and found more work to add and cover. Just a great overall company. |

What does this run for their insurance? Oh wait, you have to have Geico for car insurance in order to get this?

It's not a bad deal at all for the extra coverage. In the instance of a tune, you need to declare what aftermarket parts you have installed first. They'll inspect to confirm, and you'll go from there. If the engine dies (rod, or whatever), you can then bring it to an independent shop and have them confirm the engine died as a result of mechanical failure and not the tune itself. You can then file a claim with GEICO. Whether or not they approve it is a different story, and even if they do, and it requires a new engine, you can likely say goodbye to GEICO, as they'll drop you like a stone.
Some folks across brands have had good success with it, and others not so much. Like tuning in general ymmv.

Another thing to remember. MBI does not start covering you until your manufacturer warranty runs out. But you are required to carry the MBI coverage from the day you get your new car. That in itself is no big deal because it's cheap. But you do have to pay for it for 4 years before you can collect a dime of benefit.
If you have a failure in the normal warranty period, then Geico will say to take it to the dealer for warranty repair. MBI only kicks in when/if you don't get BMW to cover it. |
