Bmw know full well it would steel far too many m5 sales and frankly if I were in the market id go for an 550i anyway. As mentioned I could then get the options I wanted on a near as damn it fast 5er and not be forced to buy a "good value" m5 because bmw included a load of options we are forced to buy as standard. However..... I won't lie I REALLY want one! Just with someone else's cash. |

What's an "M550i" ...
The M5 price explains the no UK M550i, M550d and why Alpina D5 S is not getting the tri-turbo set up... (lightweight engine bullshit doesn't cut it as an excuse I'm afraid). Well, being as fossil fuels are on their way out you'd have thought they'd want to sell as many of this gen as possible, but no. We don't even get a high performance tourer. |

Oh great that manifests as a 18% increase in used M5 prices too.
This just made my decision to go for the 550 in a few years' time. |

I doubt people will pay an 18% uptick in the US...especially for an updated engine. They couldn't even be bothered to do something new or better...

Why pple say it is the same engine as in M550i? Isn't m5 come with an M engine?

My comment was specific to the engine, which to me is not representative of a best effort...as it is a revision. I am sure it is improved, but to not even bother with a different engine appears 1/2 hearted to me.

The F90 is not a Re-Skinned F10, you are right. But it is definitely a Re-Engined F10 M5. No matter the technical updates, it's still the exact same setup with the exact same exhaust note with the exact same engine characteristics (i.e. redline).
