The body structure is quite different, especially forward of the firewall, and it is not the same engine. It is a significant update of the S63 (TU4).
In what way is the update significant? What did they update?

Standard Options? Is the equipment referenced standard or optional?

This is a very poorly worded title.

Details will be available after the official launch in Frankfurt. I will say the updates are significant enough to warrant skipping the TU3.

You can add a ton of crap on no one wants and then say it's actually cheaper than the F10....but in reality, you are paying for options you do not want making it more expensive. What is the price difference in the UK between the M550 and the M5?

I think in the US they wanted $7k for competition package on the M6....which was, what, 15 lousy horsepower and uglier rims than were on the non-competition M6.
We in the UK don't get the 550i or m550d
Bmw know full well it would steel far too many m5 sales and frankly if I were in the market id go for an 550i anyway.

As mentioned I could then get the options I wanted on a near as damn it fast 5er and not be forced to buy a "good value" m5 because bmw included a load of options we are forced to buy as standard.

However..... I won't lie I REALLY want one! Just with someone else's cash.

Expect an equivalent of the 18% increase offered additionally to the discount they normally offer

What's an "M550i" ...

The M5 price explains the no UK M550i, M550d and why Alpina D5 S is not getting the tri-turbo set up... (lightweight engine bullshit doesn't cut it as an excuse I'm afraid).

Well, being as fossil fuels are on their way out you'd have thought they'd want to sell as many of this gen as possible, but no. We don't even get a high performance tourer.

Oh great that manifests as a 18% increase in used M5 prices too.

This just made my decision to go for the 550 in a few years' time.

I doubt people will pay an 18% uptick in the US...especially for an updated engine. They couldn't even be bothered to do something new or better...

Riiiiight, because they didn't do anything new or better with this new M5. It's the same exact car as before. 🙄

In Germany there is 13% increase in list price. Not a small bump either.

Why pple say it is the same engine as in M550i? Isn't m5 come with an M engine?

That's not what I said.

My comment was specific to the engine, which to me is not representative of a best effort...as it is a revision. I am sure it is improved, but to not even bother with a different engine appears 1/2 hearted to me.

Dealers have to shift volume as if they were Ford or GM. BMW seem happy to have shifted metal in exchange for selling more finance.

Within 12 months I expect you will be able to get £15k off list of this new M5 which is way over priced.
Does this affect PCP deals in the UK? High depreciation should kill the monthly rates.

Perhaps the cost is factoring in the "Brexit tax"?????

The F90 is not a Re-Skinned F10, you are right. But it is definitely a Re-Engined F10 M5. No matter the technical updates, it's still the exact same setup with the exact same exhaust note with the exact same engine characteristics (i.e. redline).

What other reasonable options would have been more to your liking?
