What is the number of E90's delivered in Aug 2005.

"24,169 of the new BMW 3 Series sedans were delivered in August. In comparison with its predecessor model in August 2004 (16,291), this is an increase of 48.4%. Since the market launch in March this year, dealers worldwide have already handed over 118,791 of the new generation of BMW 3 Series sedans to customers."

That is one of the most ridiculous comparisons I've ever seen. BMW should know better.

Even comparing numbers between models on a "YTD from Launch basis" is touchy at best because your comparing sales markets in 1998/99 to 2005/06.

BMW has a much larger customer base now than in 1998/99, but I'd still like to see those numbers.

Anything to impress. The things you can do with statistics.

Just realized BMW compared to August 2004 sale.

They should've compared to E36 -> E46 transition sales(99->2000).
To see if E46 -> E90 sales are higher than E36->E46 or not.

A bit stupid I agree.

I don't see why you say that. Fact is E90 sedans are selling much better than E46 sedans did a year ago or 7 years ago. And it should get even better in October, with the availability of the AWD models and the new colors.

If they are selling so well how come I have only seen 3 on the road total and I live in Westchester county NY, and the local dealers have the same cars on the lots here?
They can "punch" cars ie. say they are sold so they can get the next round of allotments, also "sold" cars count for ordered cars with a deposit, so if someone ordered say an XI in august it can go to August total, demos are also considered "sold" cars.
The way car companies do the numbers are sketchy at best and they compare statistics to make things look better than they are.
So take the numbers with a grain of salt, this comes from friends that work in sales for BMW and other manufacturers.

impressive for BMW but not impressive for the owner. This huge increase in production usually mean poor quality. Take for example, my 330i has paint run off. They over spray so at the lower corner of the door edge, you see over spray where it forms a tear drop. let us hope that there is no quality issues with engine due to the high number of production. sacrificing quality for profit is no way to earn business. But again, you will have one or two lemon in a buch of car mass produced (that is expected even for BMW). That my $.02.
