Air conditioner problem
I was wondering if anyone has come across this problem. When I started my 2020 m5c last week, the air conditioner wouldn’t come on. I drove about 45 minutes, shut the car off, and did some chores. When I came back and started the car, the air conditioner worked, and has worked since. The car has 2100 miles on it, and other than this, I love this car. I haven’t contacted the service department since it’s been working flawlessly since that one time. Thanks

Was it hot that day? Happened to me once in another BMW I owned. Never experienced it again. I thought maybe it was because I beating the hell out the car in +100 degrees weather when the AC stopped. 😅

Yes, it was hot and humid that day. I didn’t turn the a/c on until I got on the parkway. It only blew warm air until I shut the engine off about 45 minutes later ( I didn’t have it on the whole time, but kept trying it on and off). When I came back and restarted the car, it worked and has worked ever since.

I'm really surprised that German manufactures can't get the A/C right.
My previous X6M had the worst A/C of any car I've ever owned. It took 30+ mins to get cold air, and the evaporator started leaking after about a year and had to be replaced. On my 8-month-old 2020 E63s, the A/C smells like mold. There already seems to be a massive class-action lawsuit in the works against Mercedes-Benz regarding this issue. Meanwhile, my $40k Jeep Wrangler is parked in the sun all day, provides instant cold air, and no odor or other issues. |

851 miles (COVID) My f'ing A/C refuses to engage. I've messed with every different scenario in the menu and the seat venting and whatnot. 19 times out of 20 it blows regular air (hot air even). 1 time out of 20, it cools (when it does max A/C setting is frigid) It feels like the buttons don't engage the Freon or something. This AM, when I was driving may family to the airport (yeah), no matter what I did, it would not come in and just blew hot air. I was going to wait until the 1200mi abc but this is out of control. FWIW my G05 M50i has never had this problem, the A/C is chilly always. |

I want to recall that I read about this issue or something similar over on the M8 forums so you may want to do a quick search over there and see if the problems they've been experiencing are in line with yours.

I have also had issues with my steering wheel. At times when i get in the car & start it up, the steering wheel will stay in the up position & wont adjust to its last position. If i try to adjust it with the button, it won't move at all. As if their was no juice running to the motor. |

It's a widespread issue on many new V8 Bimmers currently. Search the threads. It's common and requires parts from Germany be ordered and much down time for some

I traded my 2018 X5m in for the 2020 M5 comp. In the 2 years I had with the X5m, I never had any problems with the a/c. This coming week is supposed to be hot and humid, so I guess I’ll see if the problem repeats itself.

Getting scared that my car on order will have the same issues. Went thought this air conditioning problem over a decade ago with a brand new E60 545i. Took forever for BMW to even acknowledge that there was a problem.

We just went through a week that was very hot and humid. Feel like temperatures 100-105. I used the car for both short errands and longer trips. It worked flawlessly the whole time. I am really hoping it was just a one time thing.
