Car thinks I hit something

Today I was driving aggressively through the mountains and came to a long straight. I stopped and initiated launch control up to around 80mph. A “check control - damage detected” warning came on the infotainment screen. The car seemed fine after I check it out and listened for any odd sounds. The car drove just fine for the next 20 miles of aggressive driving. When I got home I clicked on the suggestion in the warning message to call BMW Roadside assistance through idrive. A bmw rep answered the call and said my car sent a message to them that a minor, no airbag accident was detected. I said nope, nothing happened and she said okay, that’s fine and the detection system is sensitive. Weird. Anyone else experience this?

Something similar happen to me, I was driving normally and going about 30 mph. I was at the stop light then all suddenly the car start throwing all kinds of errors and it thought I was in a accident. The car went into limp mode, I wasnt able to drive faster then 20 mph and the power steering stopped working. Pulled over and shut the car down for 5 mins then everything started up fine.

Took it to dealership and they couldn't find the cause. They kept it for a month and change a bunch of random stuff and hasn't happen since. They still couldn't find the cause, I have only put on 800 miles since then so i am not sure if it will happen again. Also, i had only 1100 miles on the car when this happened.

I was driving doing roughly 85 mph not a single car around me and my collision warning came on and slowed me down, though it was really weird and makes me think a ran over a.

I’ve read the same happening to the 755hp ZR1 on the track.

This happens on launches between first and second gear. The force is so violent that it thinks it's in an accident.

Had a BMW Technician plug in the car and there was no other messages with it.

had collision warning come on when taking a ramp at some speed. The ramp has a guard rail
I take this ramp every day driving to work at relatively same speed and the warning comes out like once a month

Similar thing happened to me, although in m340. While backing out of garage collision warning went off stopping car though I was not close to anything. Highly sensitive technology I'd say

Mine sometimes beeps a collision warning when I'm backing down the driveway and get into the street. As I back into the street there are some metal utility covers embedded in the street that I back right over. When I first got the car, it would beep all the time when backing over them and a few times it actually applied the brakes. But it's almost like it's got AI and it has learned that they are not really a threat as they very rarely even cause a beep now, and the car hasn't applied the brakes at all in several months. (Yes, I know it doesn't have AI). I do have the sensitivity turned down to minimum, which I'm sure helps.

I've had my car for 5 months now. It happened once while showing my spouse how to launch the car. The car went sideways in a controllable manner before takeoff and the alert stayed on dash until the next morning. It hasn't happened since tho.

That one happened to me too. I thought I had actually backed over something the way it popped out of reverse into park. Tbh, I was getting closer to the sidewall than usual in an effort to miss the bucket. I know better now. 😅
