Windshield wiper feature?

https://youtu.be/J7qe8Tk_VPw?si=kNFqn02hJmwnopA5

Anyone else notice their windshield wipers come up at higher speeds and when slowing down they go back to their rest position? It's like they come up to their "on" resting position and I wonder if it's just because the air is pushing them up, or whether they do it themselves as to not break something or for some sort of aerodynamic function.

Just like the brakes are pre-tightened, the wipers are READY TO ROCK if a drop of rain is sensed by the car.......

I'll have to look I have not noticed that....still Boxster weather. LOL

i know from past BMWs the wipers will move so it doesn't get stuck and the brakes would swipe the pad to keep it dry, not sure if that's the case anymore or if that's what your asking.

This is with wipers completely off and only a function of speed

Do you have the switch in position 0 (off) or 1 (rain sensor)? The only thing I can think off if on rain sensing, I noticed your windshield has lots of bug zap there is a posibility the sensor is detecting that and coming up to ready position. If in off position maybe… possible a hint of air due to speed, but unlikely since the blades and hidden and away. On a funny note if you are traveling at 88 mph the blades are acting as lighting rods, check your time and date you might have experienced time travel.
Joke aside, I can’t think on anything else unless a more experienced member has this same issue and has figured it out.

Wipers in position 0 completely off (not rain sensing) and they jump up to the normal resting position of when they are active at considerable speed then as soon as you slow down they go back down but it doesn't look like it's just from the air (since they just stop there and the motion looks controlled)

That’s definitely weird. I don’t think mine does that. Nothing in the owner’s manual nor the techinacal document say anything about this behavior. I will try to pay attention to it next time. This would drive me crazy if it happens to me.

I have never seen mine do this, and yes I move at high speeds almost every day.

It requires speeds that only cars with the m drivers package can hit. And settles back down as soon as you get back to non M drivers package speeds. Kinda hard to take to the dealer and ask em lol. I'm gonna review some footage from my germany trip where I was going 155 on the autobahn to see if the two cars I had over there did it at all. If not it'll be an interesting question to pose to the dealer😂😂😂

I actually would ask the dealeship or even BMW itself… at the end of the day you can factory order the M driver’s package so if this is “normal” it sholud be easy to explain.

I've gone about 260 KM/H and never saw this.

As for your comment about M speed - that truly is funny. - thank you.

The sarcasm is truly appreciated. (M-Speed Micvite).

I'm from germany and I've been wondering about that behaviour too.
It happens exactly at 257 km/h (~159mph) and the wipers go back down around 240 km/h.

Happens and seen often both on F90 Comp and G31 and both at the exact same speed, also happens every single time you reach that speed.

I am not completely sure but I think it happened on the dyno too with the F90

AHA! Yeah, I just looked at the footage from when I was driving on the autobahn earlier this year and saw it happen a few times (very rarely since that car was limited to 155 so only a few times did I get to 159 indicated) But at least I'm not crazy. Interesting comment on the dyno, I'm curious to see if I can find any dyno runs that are going that fast to check it out.
