F87 Opinion...
Is it me or is the M2 simply the best looking BMW out there?

F87 and F80 are 1A and 1B.
Amazing how fast our collective opinions change. When the F80 was first unveiled, a lot of people didn't like it. |

Call me crazy, but I think the F87 is the best looking BMW made since the e46 M3. The proportions are just right, every other car they've made since the e46 gen has been too big. The 1M has great proportions, but I'm not a fan of the Bangle flame surfacing.

You are not alone, I think the M2 may be BMWs best work and will be a timeless classic even more so than the e46 (I know, flame suit on). I'm just really glad I bought the F87 when I did. I would have naturally gravitated toward something larger and more luxurious like the M5, but something about the M2 didnt let that happen. After 3 years, I still love driving this car every day, and looking at it of course!

too many good looking bmws of the past, I think be hard to say the f87 is anywhere near the top
E24, E38 for example so not even going into the more popular E46 and E39. But I would put the F87 as top 10 for sure and closer to the middle and it won't be a popular opinion on the comp forum (and I have one) but the OG is a better looking car, the front is way more classic BMW and will age better |

I loved my 1M but the M2 does look better overall IMHO...

I’m in agreement that the F87 is one of the great designs and I still love it as much as I did when I took delivery.
Try bringing this up on the G87 forum 😀 and I’m sure the responses will be different. |

My opinion has shifted a bit as well since ownership but I feel it even looks better than the previous gen M4. It makes the M4 looked dated and the proportions from the headlights to the rest of the car works better too. Our rear ends are not something to brag about though...
This is obviously coming from a place of ownership bias. |

Let’s see how it’s looks hold up over the next 20-30 years. Not sure it’s “timeless”. To me it’s not exotic or particularly unique. It’s a 2 series on steroids but the body lines aren’t far off from many 2 door coupes on the market from 2005-2020. Maybe I’m wrong but I think it will always be a niche car for those that like to make a more subtle statement in the world of sporty coupes. Maybe the incognito aspect will help hold its appeal as it’s not too much a fashion statement of it’s time, but we’ll see…

Looks are subjective, it doesn’t appear as squatty or stubby as the F87. Not a big fan of how they did the reflector area but that’s an easy fix, looks more aggressive to me than the F87

Like they used a drywall scraper to style it - all flat planes and awkward rectangular shapes. I assume they are seeking those with totally different aestthetic, presumably after marketing tells them there are more of them out there than those like me. Perhaps the same people who appreciate the Kith-treatments.
