I can't speak through experience, but I think the majority of opinion on this forum would say "hell yes" it's worth it. There's massive info here if you wanted to do a search, and here's a link that might help your decision as well. http://www.guysoflidar.com/march-200...ctor-test.html

Definately.
I had a passport escort before, it worked just fine, but I still ended up selling it. I got myself a nice V1 set up in my primary car now. The arrows just help out so much more, especially when you are on the freeway, you can tell where the cop is and what side they are on, etc. worth it imo. If not the V1, I would say the escort passport is a good 2nd choice/option. Something with a brand name like that will only help you. Don't get the no-name or lower end brands, they will most likely throw false alarms all the time, and you will just end up turning it off or throwing it away. |

how were you able to know what side the cop was on with the v1? my v1 lights the front arrow, the rear arrow, and BOTH side arrows (at the same time) so its hard to tell left or right, unless i see the cop. |

V1 all the way... Pays for itself daily. If your going for a non integrated radar... V1's the way to go...

I'll second the recommendations here -- I bought the Passport and every time I frantically look around trying to find the cop, I wish I bought the V1. Plus it's upgradeable later, and the Escort's aren't.

Love the V1, it works well, the arrows are helpful and it was easy to hardwire to the fuse box in the glove box. See the DYI section on this forum. It has saved many a ticket..

+1. I ditched the X band years ago (I've had my V1 since 2000), and mine works great. I also hardwired mine into the front cabin light; it was really easy and took less than 10 minutes.

V1 is great. If you have the money i say go for it. But if money really is a factor, like Don said, the escort passport x50 is great buy as well. Only difference is their is no arrows. But IMO, if the radar goes off, im slowing down no matter what side the cop is on.

i had a V1 and an escort. Personally, looking at the arrow was a secondary thing since once the k/ka band is lit , my foot goes to the brake faster than my eyes are scanning for a cop. Its a "neat" feature to have once you are within the proper speed limit and have time to kill, literally.
I got the escort x50 and it works just as well in my opinion. Apples and Oranges - matter of preference both are fruits. |
