Intake / Spool Noise

Coming from a 997TT with no cats, I really miss the turbo spool noise (or any noise) on this car and because I'm a ricer, I want it back if possible.

I was going to do secondary cats as I don't want to deal with a tune/warranty to clear the CEL of primaries. Gut feeling is it won't do much based on what I'm reading.

People sound like they get big spool noise improvements with intakes, but I also see people claiming that removing the charcoal filter and swapping in BMC filters gave an audible difference which is completely laughable. Tried that, does nothing.

So for those that have gone the intake route, is the spool noise increase actually audible from inside the cabin?

Cheers

I have the project gamma intakes and the spool sound is much louder. You can definitely hear it from inside the car. Would definitely recommend getting an intake if you want it to be louder.

I have the Project Gamma intakes and, at least with the windows open, it makes a great whooshing sound on hard acceleration. It is very much muffled with the windows closed.

I also have the secondary cats removed and there is no check engine light or emissions issue. I bought the car used with them off already so I can't say how much of a difference they make.

Add the M Performance Exhaust and secondary pipes and you will get a lot of what you are looking for. It sounds so sick. In parking garages just going like 5 mph I constantly hear the turbo whine. I love it.

I have an intake on order so I can't comment on what it sounds like with the intake but if it makes it even louder, its going to be even better!

Yeah I have the secondary cat deletes and the MPE setup, and it's ok. You hear a bit of whistle but it's nothing violent or aggressive like the 997 was. If you delete your primaries you might have better luck, but you'll get a CEL.

Thanks gents. I'll start on the intake side, see how I like it. Not opposed to doing primaries on the exhaust side if there was a CEL solution that didn't involve a tune. Not interested in dealing with the potential warranty issues.

BMS and CTS intakes will improve the sound of the car.

A secondary downpipe will drastically improve the sound of the exhaust. Please note the CEL is not a concern with the secondary downpipes, only the primary ones

Secondary cat deletes added a little whistle, front mount intakes made the most sound difference, car is still silent with windows down inside.

Eventuri sounds amazing! Sounds like an APU starting up especially on the high rpm holds.

Intake wont do it. Primary and secondary downpipes and youll think youre stuck in the eye of a tornado

Best advice I have if you want actual turbo spool out of the hood and not exhaust is to get dinan turbo inlets. Huge difference. I also have a gruppem intake which I don’t think makes any difference… I’m sure that the open style intakes are way more audible but I don’t want to risk having my intakes somewhere vulnerable enough that tailgating a car in the rain (on accident of course) can hydrolock my motor if it splashes enough water… long story short everything is in those turbo inlets.

Full downpipe would be best but, if you cant tune then go for the secondary downpipe, rear exhaust and intake combo.

Question regarding lower downpipes

I am running an Eisenmann catback and Eventuri intakes. It sounds amazing but now, of course, I want more. Am I reading this correctly that if I were to get say, Eisenmann lower downpipes, I would not have to deal with a check engine light?

What differences could I expect? Smell, sound?

Thanks in advance!
