If you get pulled over, you'll have to quickly turn it off I guess. Are radar detectors illegal where you live??? Mike

Today I figured out the wiring for the V1 and Bluetooth dongle. and made a lower profile connector. Had to wait for RJ12 connectors (6 conductor connects that fit in the V1.
Got it working and it's not too ugly. Once I have had it running for a bit I am going to make it smaller by soldering the wire tap wires directly to my setup to remove the RJ45 connector I am using. Third photo is first prototype. Too big to fit in neatly. If I get rid of the RJ45 quick connector and directly tap into the RJ12 it will be better. Then I'll glue the BT dongle in place instead of electrical tape.

I poke around in several late model cars looking for switched power and that is hard to find. The electronics on most new cars just don't do that instant off thing.
The power to the Home Link may shut off quicker???? But I am not sure if there is more than one hot wire in that connector. I did not look into it. Maybe?? Check the wire Diagram shown in first part of this post? Mike

+1 on the instructions being awesome and easy to follow.
one thing I would add is a closer picture of where the BlendMount wires insert into the harness. it took me a minute to realize I had to insert the BlendMount wires into ports on the harness which had existing wires plugged in.

Mine is not going easy. I cannot get the big piece off. Only one side is letting go when I push in. What does the underside of the big piece look like, i.e. what is holding it on? I am pushing in and pulling back but so far no go.

So i installed mine today and one thing I noticed is it's hard to get that thing to slide backwards even though the OP has a fantastic description on each step which literally was exactly as he described it. One thing is like to add is, use rubber gloves when doing this job. They will grip on that plastic a lot better than just skin. Also, don't panic if one side comes lose first before the other. I used a small trim plastic tool to help loosen the other side after I assessed all the latches on the side that came loose first. Don't yank on anything, it's hard plastic and could break. I did mine after I already installed my blendmount and I didn't want to take the mount down so I had to take all 3 pieces out. Again, not a big deal but definitely needed to use the trim tool to get the second piece to come loose as per OPs instructions. Ordered them on Amazon they were $6

Just used this thread to install blendmount Uniden R7 and was super helpful. While it took me some time all the instructions were super helpful. Ended up using an adjustable vise grip to squeeze the main section while pulling back towards the rear seat.

Once we were able to get the larger cover off, we used the needle-nose pliers to push in each MirrorTap hot and ground wires into place and they very snug. One thing to look out for, which was a gotcha for me, the ground pin location was different in the schematic than it was actually located on the pin harness/connector. Well, it threw a check condition error with the ambient light sensor and the auto-wipe systems. I powered the car off then back on and it cleared the check condition message. Whew...!
After locating the “Brown” ground wire and of course the red/black 12V hot wire, it worked like a champ! The hardest part of the install was putting the cover back on. Took us (my oldest son and I) no more than 15 mins to perform the entire install. Question: Does leaving the Radenso Pro-M in the “Powered On” mode drain the battery in any way? It NEVER seemed to power off and some lights on the dash stayed on too - even after a 15+ mins wait away from car. Last edited by bradleyjs; 08-18-2019 at 11:34 AM.. Reason: Typo |

Do you leave your detector on all the time when exiting the car for the day? I’m concerned that it still pulls power from the battery even with car is off.

I will test it again - perhaps still having key in my pocket could have contributed - not quite sure. |
