MPE with catless Downpipes insight
I currently have the MPE titanium exhaust with secondaries. I just pulled the trigger on some primaries. Anyone have insight on how much louder the car will get ? If someone has this setup please let me know if you have any regrets and if you have any videos would help. Thank you !

I have same setup as you now. I can only imagine how much louder those pops and bangs would be. I know there was a member FSHNGRY on here who had primaries but removed as they were “too much” but of course it’s all subjective so you might love it. Have you considered the Dinan x pipe? I’ve been contemplating that.
Found his response in my PM and hope he is cool with me quoting him: “Regarding the primary catless DP- I removed them back in late December. Yes they did throw a CEL. The smell of the fuel didn’t bother me, but the sound was just awful. It lost that sexy aggressive European V8 tone and it took on a straight piped charger sound. The pops and bangs were in my opinion, beyond obnoxious. The cold start didn’t sound good at all anymore. It was just way too loud and not refined like the F90 was designed to be.“ Last edited by NCRob; 01-30-2024 at 06:57 AM.. |

Cold start can be deleted with a tune and is unnecessary for catless. Pops and bangs can be adjusted with a tune. I would not run catless without a tune. The lack of valves on the MPE would be a no-go for me even if I was willing to spend $7k on an exhaust. Titanium absorbs less sound than stainless and aftermarket stainless absorbs less sound than the heavy stock stainless.

There is a little one, probably with a crossover inside. Pretty expensive exhaust for one that looks to be 90% stainless. Might be just the muffler end that has titanium.

Yeah, the rear looks like inconel or titanium midpipe seems to be stainless.

I agree it’s a very pricey system. But a great option tone is very unique I have to say ! But there are better options out there.

Yes just axle back is titanium from my understanding. Do you think the Dinan X Pipe would make much of a difference to this “baby resonator?”

I sure would not cut up a $7000 exhaust to eliminate a tiny resonator around the crossover, but the exhaust should be louder without the tiny resonator around the crossover. Instead, I would sell the MPE and buy a louder exhaust.

High Flow primary cats
I am very happy with my High flow 200cel primary cats from MAD. The rest of my system is straight through: 2ndary DP's, custom X pipe and AWE Axle back exhaust.
Here is a sound clip of this set up. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2la6...M0N2Q2NDBjYg==

How much of a sound increase is the 200cell vs stock primary? I’m assuming you need a tune for the check engine light as well?

The MAD, CTS and other inexpensive high flow cat primaries stop the smell and are slightly quieter than catless (and slightly louder than stock) but do trigger a CEL. Expensive high flow cats like HJS or Gesi will prevent a CEL. A tune is needed to stop the CEL.

I really like the Awe switchpath. I’ve had their exhaust systems on 3 of my previous cars. Your car sound is exactly what I want. Looks like MAD pipes and awe will be the way. You don’t have smell at all with the High flows? |

I had AWE on my m4. However I always had a slight rubbing issue on the tips for some reason. I always thought it was a installer error. But My buddy with an rs5 and with the same track exhaust had an issue where his exhaust mounting brackets kept snapping randomly. Good company in terms of pricing, fitment I’m not to fond on I’m not throwing shots just speaking from my experience.

I have MAD catless primaries and secondaries, and MAD catback. It is LOUD especially in sport + with valves open. In comfort it’s not thaaaat much louder than my stock setup. I personally think it sounds incredible. Gotta love subjectivity! In hindsight, I’d probably do a catted high flow primary but I’m happy for now!
