seems pleasant enough and doesn't appear to be a douche.

he talks amounst the enthusiast without being

Hey Frank,

Just installed my Injen intake system today, same one as you have but in wrinkle black. I have a slight problem with fitment though because when i close the hood it hits the intake cone as well as the pipe right near the red injen sticker. Ideas? I tried adjusting it but there's little room for adjustment as the whole pipe that comes up from the engine is one piece.

Thanks

Same issue with the pipe/ hood fitment. There is no avoiding this. Just bend that small flap section under the hood back and yoir good. I believe this might be bc the injen cai was developed for the 135

You honestly won't believe how relived I am to hear this. I was pretty upset because the hood took off some of the black paint on the tube as well as the cone taking off paint on my underhood and I totally thought I installed it improperly.
How did you manage to bend the flap section on the hood? With plyers?
+1 for the 135i fitment, seems like it might be slightly off. I'm wondering if I should have gone AFE now.... Can't beat the injen sound though

My wrinkle black fitted perfectly actually... I guess you have to make sure you seat it deep into the turbo housing connection. Only problem I had was that the cone touched the hood, and the PROcede harness was too short for the maf sensor

Adjusted it today, really had to use some force to get the pipes in a better position but it worked out more. The cone doesn't even come close to the hood anymore and the pipe barely touches the underside of the hood (way better than before...have a huge gash in the black paint now oh well).

Thanks @ Cuffss for the help and advice

Sloppy: Maybe the e90 and e92 have slightly different hood designs? Its basically this one metal tab piece thats perpendicular with the hood metal and just so happens to come down right where the pipe is.

injen changed the location of the coupler.
check out my picts on the 1st page again.
does ur midsection coupler sit'n in the same place or is the
coupler closer to the driver side? if u got
the one closer to the driver side - that's
the updated one.

the e92 and e90 have the same clearance.
135 has more room, for sure.

if ur cone is hitting ur inner hood.
loosen the mid section coupler, adjust and bend down.
while hold'n that down tighten the coupler.
that should angle it down.

if u have the old design intake (like the one on the 1st page)
- I would contact injen and let em know, they corrected this
problem early on so most of you guys should have
the updated ones.

My updated intake, the cone did hit the inner hood 1st few
days - but it just needed adjustment from the midsection coupler
-bending that tab is a good idea. The mid section doesn't rub
anymore.

wrinkle black is where its at... just one bad point is that cuz of these tight fittngs, sometimes the black gets peeled off the edges of the pipe cuz of inserting it into the rubber hoses etc. no biggy cuz you can't see it... just make sure that shit doesn't fall into your turbo housing area

DO WANT ...

Note to self: stop reading the tuning forums.

But seriously, the whooosh is addicting. I could get used to hearing more of it. Already pronounced with the N55 stock.

My updated intake, the cone did hit the inner hood 1st few
days - but it just needed adjustment from the midsection coupler
-bending that tab is a good idea. The mid section doesn't rub
anymore.
Update:

I adjusted everything and thought that nothing really touched anymore. So I touched up the paint on the hood and had to buy heat resistant black paint to touch up the 4inch gash in my midsection of the intake. Just came back after chilling with some friends and what do I find...the cone is STILL hitting the hood, basically taking off the touchup paint and the hood metal lip is STILL scratching the area where the gash is. Now there's black paint on the hood metal lip.
I'm honestly fed up with this intake system. The sound is nice but it basically ruined the underside of my hood paint and the midsection of the intake now has a huge gash. Sorry but I had to rant...the fitment is probably just millimeters off but it already ruined everything cosmetically...

try pad'n that area with thin foam. use double sided tape on the inner hood.
at least it'll rub on the pad.

I was thinking of this but wouldn't I have to find some kind of pad and double sided tape or adhesive that can withstand the heat within the engine bay?
