AMG's bi-turbo V8 is in my opinion a class benchmark when it comes to exhausts notes, and is incredibly smooth and powerful. Interior is nicely modern and flashy, but styling inside and out will always be subjective. Its a very fun vehicle, I encourage you drive one when you can.
Thanks for this, Im going to have to drive it soon. I had the Edition 1 2018 E63S and while I enjoyed it; I like the F90 that much more so this car will really have to impress.

As much as I love the M5 and the E63S/AMG-GT4D, if there's one car I really love in this class, its the Cadillac CTS-V. Its just so raw and engaging, and has an excellent 6.2L Supercharged V8. It doesn't have the luxury or as well of a livability of the Germans, but one of my friends/co-worker has one, and he let me drive it for a road trip, and it spoiled every other car for me

Its a pretty good looking sedan too, he has one in gray like the photo below. Honestly Cadillac's V-Sport division is doing some good work, or at least was, before the latest downgrade of the CT5-V and CT4-V, looks like "V" is being replaced with "Blackwing?"

Liked it (the AMG 63S AMG) tremendously when I first saw it, but side view is not flattering. Someone hit the nail on the head when commenting that it looked like a Panamera.

Looks like they took a page out of the old Panamera.

I had a 2018 m5 and loved it but it had 28k miles after 16 months so got rid of it.

I test drove the panamera Turbo, GT 63s, the M8 comp, the 850 GC. I also had a 2018 E63s for a few months. After all that I ended up with a 2019 M5 comp. Nothing came close to performance, comfort, daily usability and price of the M5.
I really thought I was going to end up ordering an M8 GC but it was $1100 more a month than my M5 which had a $140k sticker. The GT63s on a lease is $2100 a month and that's for a very low optioned model. The panamera Turbo was $3300 a month lol.

I drove the car on Friday- here is my post on MBWorld:

Quote:
I did a quick drive, maybe 5 miles:

Good launch but I feel my F90 is quicker
Ok 30-110 but again the F90 felt faster
Exhaust note was amazing, louder than my E63S and GTS
Handling was excellent, planted, no yaw or heavy rebound- the car feels smaller in this regard.

I had the drive mode in the most aggressive set up too. I think I need to drive it again but the heft on the car does hold it back. The handling was indeed what everyone raves about though. Im just not sure how much of a real world gap that difference would be for me. When I was done, I took my F90 on the same route to get an immediate comparo and the main thing for me was the throttle response and transmission reaction to my needs. BMW really has the TCU part of their ZF dialed IMHO. But in full disclosure when I first drove the F90 I was not entirely sold over my E63S so I waited a few days and went back. Re drove it and things were better. This is why I never take a car on the first drive whether it be great or not as great. Dont get me wrong, the GT63S was still an amazing first run but I need to give it another shot with more miles and longer open stretches.

Just curious, seeing as you have a 911, I guess this car technically does compete somewhat with the M5 and GT4D, but what about the Taycan? Any interest in that?

With asking ADM's on the Taycan it has never crossed my mind. If I get another Porsche it will be a 992. I drove the "low level" C4S and it was rather impressive for 444 hp. It felt every bit as fast as my tuned GTS 991.2

The GT63 S impressed me.
It drives better than the F90. Nevertheless all the ones that come to Brazil, have CUP 2's, so that makes quite a difference.

Would I own one? Nah, it is far too expensive to justify the enhancements over the M5. It makes no sense to pay US$ 200k in the US, or US$ 300k my side of the pond.

My trouble with the M5 is that it is basically a 911 Turbo with 4 doors, in short, it is too inert, and kind of "boring", because it is far too capable and it does pretty much everything for you. Even with the Akrap in mine, I feel the only way I get excited driving it, is exploring its limit, and boy oh boy, does it come alive when you do it. But then you are left scared shitless. It is a cold and blunt instrument, tuned for precision.

Sounds terrible. . We will have to agree to disagree on the GT63S. I thought it drove like a heavy 6 series, the M5C kills it in handling and performance. And you are right, M5C is very capable and really a Swiss Army knife of a beast.

Happy Holidays my high knowledge friend from down South!!!

I agree with you on the feel of the GT63S- It really boils down to needs and my F90 is really just a street cruiser with some expressway runs; I have light mileage on it for 16 months plus of ownership and every time I drive it- I get what you said out of it: blunt force.

Because Im driving less, I might indeed make a change for the sake... of change but I need to have a better driving experience with the GT63S. I am one that will give it another chance cause after 11 AMG's I do still miss the brand.

The dealer did have a red GT63 (non S) with the Sport Cup2's but I fear the non S wont carry the power.

I walked on a 4dr AMGGT63 yesterday. Very fast beast but the f90 can hold its own. Funny, it looked like an A45 from my rear view mirror. Loved the rear tire meat, nice camber on it. When at speed, the ZF slush box is excellent in the f90. Still surprises me.

I think the GT63 S is a cut above the M5 in terms of handling (with CUP 2's). So far, lap times have been in line with what I felt. It shrinks around you in a manner that the M5 can't. It is ludicrously fast and capable.

But it rides harsher and is far to expensive to justify.

Thanks Mate, happy new year for you too!!
Always enjoy seeing your posts.

I think the GT63 S with a high discount is a worthy upgrade to the M5. But only with a large discount, because its MSRP is crazy high. There is nothing that justifies that price tag.

I do love it though, it looks very sleek, and its interior feels 2 cuts above the M5. I don't like its visibility and I am not a fan of its ride quality too. With Cup 2s it is significantly harsher.

I really like the M5, but I do want something more engaging. Unfortunately here in this side of the pond, a 911 calls too much unwanted attention, and I don't like the idea of driving around in our streets infested with potholes and crests in a 911. Panamera is boring to drive, and AMG's don't really justify their massive price premium over M Cars here (E63 S is US$ 30.000 more over here). In the realm of supersedans/wagons viable for the daily use here, there is only the Audi RS, AMG and BMW M cars. I am considering the Audi RS6 C8 as a viable candidate for upgrading (love wagons, especially the new RS6 with 4 wheel steering, active torque vectoring, and plenty of gysmos).

I would also consider the Taycan. Although it is an Electric car (very different type of car), it is awesome in terms of tech, interior and performance. I look forward to driving and owning it. Haven't ordered it, but I am consider it to trade the M5.

We are relatively on the same page. I do need to re drive the GT63S but just dont think the money or waste of it is worth the admission costs. Now if it was faster and quicker than the F90; it would be a much easier decision.

But I, like you, love the drive a car creates vs just the sheer speed times where the F90 wins tune or no tune. For now the car needs something else for me to jump into that cabin.

I do like the new RS6 but hear its in limited production stateside and pricing will be heavy (ADM's for sure). Maybe Ill consider the new RS7? Ive always been a fan of the Sportback style. Im not in any hurry while I enjoy the F90- I love the choices we get here!!

For me the E63s is a better choice then the GT63s. It is quicker looks better and cost about 50k less. I am looking to get a Edition 1.....

Yeah this new generation of cars have improved massively over the outgoing. There is plenty of great choices.

I am interested in seing the M5 LCI, and E63 S LCI because I am pretty sure there will be some interesting changes. Maybe even 4 wheel steering.

I don't think 4-wheel steering is going to happen since even the M8 didn't receive it despite the 850 having it. They might add the electronic adjustable brakes from the M8 to the M5 is my prediction.

From what I heard the E63 S will have it as an option.

Hard to tell though, it all depends on what the MKT department decides. The engineering for it is there in both cases (BMW M and AMG), so we know at some point it will happen.

Oh, I thought you were referring to BMW specifically. Yes the E63S facelift should be very interesting.

RWS is definitely a possibility for the E63S since I believe the AMG GT4D has it currently.

I've always been more fond of this generation of E63 over M5 so I'm very interested to see what slight changes might be made to the car to make it even better than it already was.
