The plan is to try the patch on in-stock vehicles 1st, then if successful, apply it to inbound cars. This makes sense to at least get them moving on the water and then have the patch ready at VPC since they are technically still in dealer hands. Mine left Bremerhaven yesterday. Hopefully we can take delivery by early December.

My X6MC arrived at my dealer on Friday. He told me BMW Canada told them November 23rd is the date slated for fix release.

Sorry for a bit OT but my model is also included so I copy my message here also :
Hi I am putting my x5mc to service this thursday - changing oil after "drive in" or how is that called. They told me today that they need my car also for all day service because of programming (calling action - fuel tank thing). So they already repair it but its not online update.. you must go there for all day time period. Edit: I will ask in service... but I am rly much afraid if they will not reduce power or loudness of my car by this crap emission problem |

My dealer just confirmed via email they are getting the fix "Next week". News came direct from the service manager.
No specific day mentioned. But with the holiday, I would think that means early in the week.

Sweet, indeed! That would work out great since mine is expected to get to New York port next week.

Will be interesting to see what they do to your car. Please post the details of the service, once completed.

Hate to report, but based on encouraging info in this thread, I just spoke with BMWFS and BMWNA. They report no authorized repair for the recall is in place, they had no ETA for a fix, and offered me a full refund to cancel. Not too encouraging. Their story is that they are unsure what these dealers are offering, but it would not satisfy their criteria for clearing the stop sale. Would be great if people with solutions could post info, because BMWNA claims it’s fake news.

This is optimistic speculation, but there could be disconnect between BMW corporate's customer support (i.e. BMWNA/BMWFS) and manufacturer-dealer communication. For one, at least one other forum member's dealer gave the same timeframe for the software update: 18th for vehicles at the port, 23rd for vehicles at dealers. Also, the supposed timetable for the fix was only disseminated by BMW corporate in the last seven days. It would seem unlikely for at least two dealers to offer the same timeframe for a fix and it's plausible there's a communications lag within BMW. But I'd be a lot more confident in my speculation had BMW not offered to let you cancel for a full refund! That makes me think BMW thought they had a fix, told dealers, then realized their fix wouldn't work.

Don't take offense to this, but I am not sure a customer service phone rep at BMWFS or BMWNA is going to provide a random caller conflicting info to what a dealer service manager is getting. Also, they may be telling you the truth... "There is no authorized repair", is a true statement, as I would be driving my car at this point if there was. What has been said recently is that the authorized repair is coming, next week. This has been stated by several people on the forum from multiple independent sources. I trust my dealer. If the service manage says a fix is coming next week, then that is what I am going to put my stock in. Another positive sign is that cars are being moved by BMW again. I don't think they would be moving unsellable cars onto boats, into VPCs and to dealers if there was no imminent fix. Also, I didn't see your car history. Is it ordered and close to delivery? In transit? Or did you just place the order? Letting you walk from a car that is close to delivery is far different than one you ordered recently. I for one know my dealer wouldn't mind me walking from my deal, as they could make a few more points now compared to where I am locked in at.

A repair could have been authorized by BMW 30 seconds after that service ticket was printed, it would still show the same, and you would be scheduling a return visit to the dealer once an official recall was announced. As I said in a recent post. I trust my dealer. Was just told a fix is coming next week. If next week comes and goes with no fix.... Then my trust/relationship with them is over, and most likely the same with BMW. This whole stop/hold experience has been an absolute mess. Finally I go back to some common sense with this. M550i, 530i, X5 40i,X5 50i, X6 40i, etc. etc. aren't frozen. Yet they share the same basic fuel tank/vent as the the M's that are stopped. This lends to a programming problem. While these can be problematic, the leap from what works in many of the same platform cars to the M's can't be monumental.
