How so? I had the option to buy the LCI after totaling my 20 M5C earlier this year and chose to purchase a 2020 pre LCI M5C - price was not an issue. And it was no consolation buy, it was choice and preference which you too are entitled to. Also why I said pre LCI for "me".

Typical finance options on a new car come in around £1200 per month with no equity at the end of a four year deal. They’re are models in the range that make sense to buy or lease new but personally I don’t see the M5 ad being one of them. Big BMWs always depreciate heavily (unlike the equivalent Audis which retain much more of their value). |

So many people hating on other peoples subjective opinions. There is no right and no wrong. Its what you like. I love them both. I have a pre LCI cause I'm just a blue collar navy guy and all i could afford was a high mileage used M5. I love it to death though. If LCI was within my grasp then maybe id shoot for it. They're both beautiful machines and I'm thankful af to be able to have one. Sure people will hate on this too.

I prefer the pre-LCI, but nothing wrong with the LCI. You can't can't lose with either one. Once this lease is up, I'll look for an LCI and take the good with the bad.

And that's with fairly high mileage. Low mileage 2018 cars with reasonable options can easily be like $90k right now. Crazy

I think these sorts of things are very psychological. When someone spends this much money on a car I think part of the attraction is having the “newest.” Look at people upgrading iPhones every year with barely a discernible change in usefulness or design. I get that. It’s part of the excitement/fun.
As for the actual, minor differences I can’t help wonder what LCI owners would be saying, for instance, if the coronas were the LCI headlight and not the launch design. Interesting to think about anyway. |

Ah that makes wayyy more sense. In the USA we typically don't do those, very rarely in fact as people tend to hate having to deal with a lump sum at the end of a loan

Anyway, to the topic at hand. I had a 2018 and now a 2021. I understand that there are subtle differences under the skin between the two (trans, suspension, etc.) but I can't tell the difference. I prefer the grill and head/tail lights on the LCI over the pre-LCI. The only reason that I traded my 2018 for my 2021 (well two reasons LOL) was that I wanted to have (what I think will be) the last full gas powered M5 and the color. As far as the gauge cluster I could go either way. However, I do kind of miss the round gauges on the pre-LCI models (2018-2019). I prefer a tach that rotates clockwise and is round, but that's just my .02. |
