Come on man, the mid engine Corvette has been talked about for fifty years, granted the C8 configuration didn't become serious fonder until recently. As for the Sting Ray, it debuted in '63. For the record, Iv'e been a Corvette owner for over 45 years. Here's what an original 'Sting Ray' looks like .........

I meant the decision to finally do it.

Zora's dream was always to have a mid engine corvette. I was talking about GM's plan to actual do it. The engine made for the car was on the drawing board before they even decided it lol. They knew that exotic engine couldn't go into an FE platform. The only way, was to evolve the corvette into an ME platform.

But would you get "blown up for Raquel Welch"?

The complexity of this engine really cannot be overstated, especially when you realize it is being made by a huge company in relatively large numbers. Just on the cylinder head, the porting of the intake and exhaust throats, inlets and FULLY MACHINED combustion chamber is a marvel at this price point. The mechanical valve train is truly a work of art as well. I have never been a big GM guy (only worked at the company a few years) and certainly never a big Corvette fan, but what they've done for the Z06 is truly remarkable.
Didn't see this post.

But that's awesome!

I think i watched about 10 different videos talking about the LT6 alone. People really don't understand about these things. They just coaching and criticizing the results without understanding any of it.

The LT4 was an after thought. Something botched together last second for the C7Z, i assume right after the "GM bankruptcy". At least that's what "forum insiders" are suggesting. Which makes sense.

The LT6 is an engineering masterpiece, that was known to go into a mid engine z06 no matter what.

GM gave us our porsche GT3 car, our ferrari 458, our mclaren if you will, AWD like traction, all in one amazing package, ALL FOR GM PRICING!

People can hate and talk shit all they want, they're the ones who will be drooling and jealous they don't have one. Which makes me wonder, maybe that's why they're hating? Because they found out they can't get on any dealer lists to get one, so they now have to wire their brain or brainwash themselves to hate the car LOL.

You just proved my point on how the Z06 IS NOT a "sports car". It's fantastic marketing.
I didn't know a sports car's only goal is drag racing/ quarter mile times.... actually I think it's the opposite, that's more muscle car territory.....

Got on a list for this Z06 and got my reservation number so I'm guaranteed a year one car and best part of all, it's at MSRP!

So excited. Can't wait for exhaust systems as well!

Also, this thread is freakin' laughable (especially the M8 arguments). Who the hell brought up that car to compare to a Z06?

I currently have an M8C and Huracan EVO so I don't stick to a brand. This thread is fanboyism turned to the max.

"You say C8Z is good? I say Porsche is better" even though its twice the price at this point.

Like is there any sense in this logic?

I guarantee you my bolt on M8 is a little faster than my EVO I'm sure. But if I had to choose one, I'd choose racecar. The M8 and really all other M cars these days are jack of all trade style cars. What the Z06 is offering will never again be matched by anything BMW. If you have 125k burning a whole in your pocket and want one car for everything, buy an M5 or M8. Otherwise, almost anything rear or mid engined is WAY more fun.

Don't know about some of you, but I go cruising for fun, not for picking up groceries. Having a car that does both is great, but you give up fun for groceries.

How can they guarantee you a car if they don’t even know how many allocations they’ll get?

Anyone else think the C8 is unattractive?

I wouldn't call it fugly, but it could've looked better esp when compared to the C7, which IMO has a better exterior aesthetic.

I like most angles except the rear, it just doesn't flow or look right with the rest of the car. C9 will hopefully fix that

Probably he got in on Ciocca. That's how I got in vs 1400+ on MacMulkin. Still regret passing up being top 100 on MacMulkin...

Got my sub 100 reservation at Ciocca like the guy above me said.
Got up early, got my stuff ready and sent the wire right when the site went live. Got a really good number for my reservation due to my bank sending the wire fast. If you were 15 min late with your wire, you get 2000+ on the reservation list lol.

MSRP will not be that high. Just look at GM's pricing formula history with each generation of Corvette. Likely will be $85-90k MSRP. Options is where they will make the $.

I have a good number on the Ciocca list so good shot at getting a 2023 car.

They received about 6,000 wires/in person deposits when they opened it up on 11/2 LOL. The demand for this car is crazy. The other major Vette dealers in the US have big waiting lists too.

i dont see how this vette will be 85-90 as base. My old C7 2LZ Z06 with ceramic brakes was 99k.

I'm thinking more like 95-100k starting.

GM has always followed typical price structures from the base model into the z06 model going back to the C5 generation.

If GM follows this, that means the C8Z "should" start at 87k

But because this is so much more car this time around, with the bespoke engine, GM knows they can make so much money on this car. But they still want people to be able to afford it. So i'm guessing 95-100k starting.

Yea, you included your options. I said MSRP. Again, pay attention to history. About a $25k price difference between base & Z. So about $85k...

Z06 MSRP is irrelevant. In real life, you won’t get one under 130-140k.
