Insurance premium got increased!! (GEICO)

I just needed to print out my ID card from insurance website and noticed that my premium has been increased about 10%!!

So I emailed the customer service and got a reply back
quote:
-----------
The increase in your premium is due to the symbol rating for your 2006 BMW being revised. The symbol rating helps to determine the cost of your Comprehensive and Collision coverages. The symbol reflects the cost of repairs, availability of parts, susceptibility to damage, and other factors that need to be reflected in the premium for the coverages that pay to repair your particular vehicle.
-----------

Is this true and what all of you have experienced?
Since they didn't even send an email or anything. Your insurance premium might have been increased without telling you!

I have geico too and got the same thing when my premium was renewed in Feb. I called them and they said the exact same thing your email response said.

My Premium went from $1027.20 USD Per 6 Months. to $1215.00 USD Per 6 Months. About 18% increase I was kinda bummed by that. Below is the coverage I have, is your about the same?

BODILY INJURY LIABILITY $100,000/$200,000
RENTAL REIMBURSEMENT $750
PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY $100,000
PERSONAL INJURY PROTECTION-INSURED & HOUSEHOLD $500 DED.
UNINSURED MOTORIST BODILY INJURY $100,000/$200,000
UNINSURED MOTORIST PROPERTY DAMAGE $10,000
COMPREHENSIVE N/A $250 DED.
COLLISION N/A $500 DED.

I just recently renewed mine (February) and it went down. But I have State Farm. I heard that the gekko who does their commercials just negotiated a pretty hefty salary increase. That is probably the true reason.

Damn Triton, must be your age or something... or if you live right in Wilmington. I pay less than $800 per year and only have $100 deductable.

Yeah I'm not too happy about my amount. It's because I'm considered Wilmington City, which is the higest in Delaware, and because delaware doesn't have a high density population which means premiums are higher since there aren't enough motorist to compensate for the accidents.

Then again it could all be for their higher salaries. I'm 28 btw with 1 accident last year that was my fault but no damage laibility, only medical claim which gieco said doesn't raise my rates.

It was supposed to be a joke. I am 28 also.

You do get a break on insurance rates once you turn 25, though.

I'm so jealous. I've be extremely happy with $1600 a year. Heck I'd be happy to be less than 2K a year.

I like that accent. Is that Australian or British? THere was this one chick in my class that had a sexiest British accent. She's middle eastern looking but man her accent was sexy. LOL I could listen to her voice all day.

Insurance premiums have been discussed more than once. I recommend a search. In a nutshell, premiums are based on actuarial calculations which take into account a variety of factors.

Having said that, I am not a fan of Geico though the lizzard is cute. <g> Geico is the sour pus company in the U S with respect to automobile performance. This year both State Farm and Allstate are participating in motor racing as sponsors. Geico reputedly sits outside the gates of race courses and write down license plate numbers. <BBG>

Our premium on my car went from something like 585 down to 425 (for 6 months, comparable coverage to those shown above; don't have the policy in front of me) when we told the agent I'd just gotten my CPA license. This is with Farmers. If you have some kind of professional designation, it might be worth mentioning to the agent. (I'm also in my 40s, have multiple car, car/house discounts, etc... )

It sounds southern English to me, but could be Aussie. I know what you mean about a Brittish accent!

Mine increased too over my e46 vert.

Here's my 6-month renewal premium (30 year old - 1 ticket) in Woodstock/Canton, GA. $368 of it is our 2004 Honda Oddysey. The remainder is my 330i or $375 every 6 months full coverage with high liability limites - 300,000/500,000. I'm with Progressive.

Shane, we need to catch up sometime.
