H&R 550i Springs. Comfy or Stiff?

Hi All,

I was originally going for MSS adjustable springs from Evolve but love the drop of the H&Rs I have seen here.

I have read many posts on this topic and there seems to be very contradicting opinions. Some people say the ride quality is like stock and others say it is very stiff and uncomfortable. I am likely pairing my springs with 21" wheels and don't want to kill the ride quality. This is a big reason why I went with a non comp.

Can you guys help on this question of comfort as it is crucial for me and saves decent amount fo cash vs the MSS?

Thank you

I think the issue with a question such as this as that the responses will inherently be subjective.

What may be harsh or comfortable for one person may not necessarily feel the same for another and vice-versa.

My suggestion is start with the HR 550's and go from there ... they are relatively inexpensive and you can always go back to OEM or something else w/o spending a ton.

What I can tell you is that the HR550's are less harsh than the KW HAS based on my own experience owing both. This is based on very similar ride heights although I could never get the fronts on the KW kit as low as wanted.

Furthermore, I'm on 21"s and have no issues in terms of harshness. In fact, I keep the dampers on Sport mode to harden up the ride a bit.

I'm more a purist when it comes to suspension feel and like as much feedback as possible from the road.

You're welcome to fly to Miami and drive for yourself!

KW V4 is hands-down the best option but it is expensive.

Very helpful response. Thank you

I also appreciate the offer

I am so excited to enjoy this car. Its the first performance car that I can enjoy with my two boys. I have had so many Porsche GT cars and not one has offered a rear seat option. I have decided if the new GT3 Touring doesn't come with a rear seat option I am going to pay to put them in

A stage 2 M5 and a manual NA 4.0 992 Touring with rear seats sounds like the perfect combo for a family man. The best of both worlds.

Enjoy brother! My three kids, including 2 boys, have grown up around cars and sports and the M5 fills many boxes and is very enjoyable!

I just ordered my 6th M5 and will be adding a 911 to the stable this year as well.

What is your new M5 spec? What 911 has your eye?

I ordered an M5 Comp with Individual Paint and well optioned including CCB's, Exec, B&W, Full leather etc.

The P-Car is a 911 Turbo S.

Oh man your not messing around. Willing to share paint choice?

Have you ordered the turbo S already? The 992 Turbo S is an absolute missle. I was shocked at how much better it is than the 991.2.

Have you driven a gt3 touring? It is such a special car. Not as quick as a Turbo s, but a more enjoyable road car for me with the 6 speed and 4.0. I am not sure about in your area, but the Turbo S is a hot enough item where I live, one could secure a 992 touring (released next month) if you are trading the Turbo s for it. Then you get to enjoy both and the touring won't depreciate anything like a Turbo s.... if you care about that... I know some don't but I do.

Food for thought, but you my friend have great taste. Enjoy in good health
