Wheels, wheels, wheels

What to do? These M5 wheels ARE very ugly (BMW, WHY?!?! ). I'm trying to decide to go aftermarket with some HRE's, maybe get the F10 performance package wheels, or give the factory wheels a try? Maybe when I get 305 rubber on them with Dinan suspension and some spacers they will look better? I'm just not really into the racer boy aftermarket look so I'm at a loss at the moment. What is everyone else thinking?

No, narrow for the M5. They're only 8" and 9" wide.

So, I found my solution. I have decided not to go the M5 route - the more I look at the car I find it more and more boring - not just how it looks but it doesn't give me a feeling of excitement. I have decided I'm either going with a used 2015-2016 911 GT3 or a used 2017 Audi R8.

I'm probably gonna do the same, maybe E63 or panny turbo.
M5 looks like somebody forgot to design a new model.

Yes Im with you and right now I'm 49/51 between the M5 and the E63, possibly the estate version.

As much as I want to stay with an M car and upgrade to the M5 there quite a few things that really annoys me
To start, there are no option to opt for a night package and we can’t opt out chrome parts or configure carbon parts.. this might be available next year but no matter what, I will not be able to add this onto my lease
I also want to keep the “ Mod budget” as low as possible as I have other project beside the car but with the F90 I will be tempted from day 1 to add black kidneys, spoiler, front lip, suspension, wheels and possibly exhaust or catless DPs and wrap later on.

With the E63, I don’t see the needs to make any mods beside a drop
Merc offer the option to remove chrome and replace the parts by gloss black or carbon (Audi too )
The matte grey paint is awesome, forged 20” are fine and exhaust note is in a different league

I am not ruling out the F90 just yet as I’m keen to see the first reviews and see it in person.

I fully agree. I have a 2008 535XI and to me, the body lines really have not changed much in 10 years. Plus not enough wheel options. The multi spoke wheels look boring like an old man's car. Took an E63 for a drive the other weekend and really liked it. Tried to trade in my X5M, but we couldn't get close enough. I guess the BM dealership doesn't like the awesome look and power of these.

i have to say that prior to purchasing the F90 i wasn't wild about the wheels. After living with them a while they've really grown on me. as far as the car design is concerned, i think many complaining about it not being aggressive appearing don't actually own one. yes its a bit of a sleeper but in person theres no doubt that its a beast.

Comparing that a Panamera Turbo has less driving feel and was for me the biggest competitor to this car, I feel as though Ive got a good $80-$90k savings to do with as I please on the new M5. Obviously the M5 wont be for everyone, but for me, it evokes the connection to a car that Im surprised with every day. Its a combo car that allows for two cars in one for those of us with limited space.

Anyhow the hre p101’s are what Im getting. Wheels Boutique out of Miami seems to be profiting from the opportunity.

All this is light years ahead of paying for extra mechanical hardware to separate me from the road and feel of driving a car 800 lbs heavier in the turbo s.

I created this thread back in November 2017 before I had laid eyes on the car in person. After seeing it in person I recant on my original statement. The car is amazing in person and I actually really like the bi-color wheels. I’ve already placed my deposit for the car with my dealer, just waiting for the 2019’s and potentially the Competition Package before executing my order. I’ll be getting individual Silverstone II for the color. Can’t wait!

I think many share your sentiment as there are tons of 2017 Panamera Turbos still on the lot. Plus it finished last among that recent comparison.

On the same boat; deposit placed and waiting for 19' Competition Package. Going to do SG/ Aragon Interior / still undecided on wheels (want to see better pics of the comp wheels).

That’ll be a cool combo. My last two BMW’s were black so I’m trying something different. I like the contrast between CF and the Silverstone II. But I’ll be changing some of the competition package blacked out pieces back to chrome and body color plus I’ll be opting for the non-CP wheels, going for a the bi-color 20’s. I personally think the M5 should be kept more classy.

My current M5 is BSM and a PITA to keep clean. Thought about a lighter color but settled on SG. I'm sure you can swap the black pieces for some chrome easily.

I personally like the black trim pieces but it's all subjective.

Most expensive by far and yet the slowest. Porsche needs to up their game, then again they probably don't care that much about this segment.
