But this card has "perks" that are no longer offered such as covering any gap on insurance on a rental vehicle, and "cash-back" in the form of gift cards to all kinds of merchants.

When used for work, I make some pretty big purchases and get points for that...then get points for paying it off. My work let's me keep any benefits that come along with it.
I miss that... Back in the day, company card but I got to keep all the perks... Averaged over 100 flights a year + hotels every week + rentals + laptops/cell phones etc... Shit was great, especially the statuses...

Now I rarely use a card... Cash... Go figure...

I never use my debit card for anything but using ApplePay to send friends/family cash. I once had fraudulent charges on my debit and it was a small pain in the ass to rectify.

I use credit cards regularly to float business expenses, and shop online. Even PayPal charges my cc. I recently moved everything to using my Costco Visa because it provides greater cash rewards than the Capital One Quicksilver MC. The 4% back on fuel; and 3% back on travel is nice considering all the driving and travel I do for work; plus 2% on most other purchases. The only drawback is the Costco card only pays you the reward once a year, where the Quicksilver card lets you redeem the cash rewards anytime.

Interest rates are a non factor, as I don't carry a balance.

I got an Apple Card but mainly to see if it would be more convenient. We will see as time goes by.
