Ah I see, thanks all for clearing that up for me...I don't drive an E90, only an E46 so I had no idea...

I just come to these forums to drool over people's rides and to learn about the new model Bimmers .

Is it just me, or am I the only one who thinks 3 blinks is too short? I mean, you should signal BEFORE you change lanes, if my signal only blinks 3 times, I am barely moving into the lane when it stops blinking. I would prefer 4 or even 5 blinks. I wish the number of blinks was programmable.

signed, the wussy non-aggressive lane changer...

Now turn signals are electronic in a different way and the noise isn't really there. In Lexus, it's almost silent to the point that you don't know if it's even on.
BTW, Cayenne has the same 3 blink feature with a light tap on the stalk.

The new X5 shifter is probably the same thing-an electronic switch that resembles what used to really be a mechanical link.
e90 and cayenne aren't the only cars to have this feature

You should hear the blinker on a previous-gen Range Rover, I could have sworn there was a drummer living in my dash it was so intrusive.

It's like they thought maybe you'd need to use the indicators while wading through a creek with the windows rolled down.

I never even thought about it really. It seemed natural to me.

My friend who has a 330 was telling me how odd and how much of a pain it was, but I got used to it nice and quick while I was over in Germany. I think I'll like it. I thought 3 blinks wouldn't be enough for a lane change, but it seems just about right.
