Why would BMW raise the center gravity and weight on a car that's already a pig but more importantly labeled 'Competition'?
Because weight is irrelevant for a car which will never see the track. These packages are all marketing.

.. it's amazing how " none " will see the track... yet BMW marketing shows an M5 on track in nearly every example...

FYI.. where I am in Texas... we have this place called Circuit of the Americas... and there ABSOLUTELY are M4 GTS, M5, M6 GC, and even X5M on track at BMW and Porsche Car club events. Don't believe? Come on down..

Apple CarPlay is horrible
Yep. No one in their right mind is going pay for CarPlay. My car has it because I took a lot car, but I would never build a car with it.

I hope you're right and I agree about the car navis being garbage at routing. I constantly have to check google maps on long drives to confirm I'm not being taken a retarded route.
Yep. Same here.

i'm confused with this lineup now, does m2c and m5c are now becoming "new models" as it was said year or two ago that we will see "m2cs, m5cs, m8cs models" (in that time they were called either cs or csl), and they are more powerful versions of m2 and m5 just like m4cs, or these are just packages just like prevoius m5 CP, current m4 cp, etc.?

can someone explain this, I thought they were packages like, but than I saw m2c on bmw.de website as seperate model

I find using Apple car play for Nav on other cars is so quirky and slow. The regular BMW Nav is fine.

This M5 pig is almost a minute faster around the Nordschleife track. i think the S5 is around 8min 26sec and M5(non comp) 7min 38sec..even with the sunroof it will still be way under 8min

1. Completely different price bracket. 2. These cars will never see the track anyway so it doesn't even matter how fast it goes around the stupid ring. 3. Never made that comparison, you did. 4. The M5 and S5 aren't even the same class of car.

95% of owners won't take them anywhere near a track. They'll see the garage, the gym, and the grocery store.

I was in the same boat as you prior to the Apple WWDC keynote this past Monday that "Apple announced support for third-party map applications in CarPlay. The company says that Waze and Google Maps will be supported on CarPlay with iOS 12." https://9to5mac.com/2018/06/04/apple-wwdc-app-updates/

This is will occur in the fall, having access to Waze is a game changer to avoid police radar, especially in a M vehicle.

By your measure, I've probably met all the M4 GTS owners in the country that track their cars.

Have you tried the new cloud connected Nav in the 2018 models? I find it very accurate.

Exactly. So why are you bitching about a moonroof option? Calm down.

I am calm. It's just stupid that a 'competition' model has an option for a moonroof. Marketing at its finest.

It's also stupid that a car sold in this country can exceed 155 miles an hour when there is no place to drive that speed on public roads. Lots of things about this car make no practical sense. But who cares? Most people don't buy this car for pragmatic reasons.

Do you really think it matters on a car this size/weight? I'd argue that the carbon fiber roof is more "marketing" than the sunroof option. I'd get the carbon roof because it looks cool. Nothing to do with performance.

The first press releases for the 2019 Competition M5 had Frozen Dark Silver as the exterior color for the car, what happened to that?

It's not the accuracy that was the problem with other navs. It's the fact that Waze has police traps in it and it's traffic info is extensively faster and more accurate than anything else on the market.

It's algorithms for routing around traffic and finding the absolute fastest route are also in a league of its own.
