Frustrated with purchase process
Test drove my first ever x5 this weekend and loved it.
Talked numbers today with the local dealer for the 2024 model and the dealer will take about $1000 off msrp and won’t budge. It works out just barely over 1% off msrp. I’m talking to another dealer in a different part of the state (Michigan) and they won’t budge more than 2.5% on a 2025 model. A third dealer won’t even respond to my inquiries. I am considering just going the broker route, but I would ideally like to also trade in my current car… which I think complicates things with a broker as the car could be sourced a ways from where I live. If anyone has thoughts, suggestions, advice I would be very open to hear it. Side note - the x5s I’m looking at/for are the xdrive40 with climate comfort, advanced parking, advanced driving, premium, and tow hitch. The local dealer is listed at 76,500 and will go to 75,500… the other dealer is listed at $78,500… and hasn’t yet responded to my offer of $73,000 |

You could sell your trade on your own if you have the stomach for it. Or get offers from Carvana or Carmax which will likely be in the same neighborhood as a dealer trade offer. Then a broker can get you 6–8% off a 2025. Contact Dan at Next Level Auto Brokers. He has many happy buyers here. It’s quite likely that you could build a ‘25 to your spec and have it in your garage in mid—late June

I'm in SE MI and I got stuck in the same boat as you re dealers not budging. I went with a broker (Bacon) but I didn't have a trade-in. As others will say, selling through Carmax or Carvana may be a better deal than the dealer anyway. But I'm sure a broker can talk you through a tradein process.
LuckyBrand I think got 6% off MSRP off a MY25 from someone in the area so may be able to refer you to a sales person. Whether or not that deal still available I dunno.

Discounts vary by region and dealer. Ideally you should be targeting 10% or more off a remaining 2024 at this point. Custom orders for MY25's are 7-8% in many areas. As mentioned, if dealers aren't budging in your area then you should probably contact a broker or expand your search to other states.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

I'm researching, but think I'm settled on a 2025 X50e. My build is not special just M Sport package with carbon black metallic paint and trailer hitch/heat package/Harman Kardon audio system. Of course there is absolutely nothing that color within 500 miles of the Twin Cities MN. I have time yet, but this summer would be nice.
I may submit my order today or tomorrow. I don't need financing, just looking for the best price. It looks like that model is rare and even more so in that color, so I'm not expecting a great deal. Is there a better time of year to try and purchase? I would wait a few months more to save more, I hate paying MSRP. I am coming from a Ford so I am used to not paying full price as they are always discounted at the end of the model year. However I want the new BMW to be made the way I want it. Any comments or advice is appreciated, thanks. |

Have you looked at Chicagoland dealers? Reach out to Patrick in Schaumburg or Zeigler in Orland Park. Both have negotiated on the xDrive40i or M60i. Patrick should have allocation for both. Can't speak on the deals for the 50e.

As others have said the broker route is a great way to go as well. For a flat fee they can handle most of the work for you and save you some bucks. But you may have to travel or have it shipped so those costs can eat into any potential savings.

Experience was shitty for me too. Don't respond to questions, and then you get these " we haven't heard from you" automated messages, and then when you respond, crickets.
