You need to find a tool that can pull the check valve out, it won't break. Then snap it into the new cap

pbonsalb stated the oil only drips out of weistec drain plug and that is a concern of mine since the drain plug is under the check valve. How long does it take to drain oil filter when you remove weistec drain plug? Wonder if you can open check valve by inserting tool into drain plug hole? If oil change is done by dealer, they will not wait long before removing weistec oil filter cap.

I have not actually changed oil yet with the Weistec in place. It is installed now, so next change. The oil around the filter in the housing should drain. Oil inside the filter might not due to the check valve, but it will seep through probably within a minute. And since the oil surrounding the filter will have already drained out, whatever is still seeping through from the inside should not fill up the filter cap before you remove it.

That is great news. If thus updated new part can be swapped in for less money, great. What is tge PN and cost?
BMW must have been listening to its service techs complaining about the mess and extra minute or two it takes to clean up or the service advisers relaying customer complaints about oil dripping after oil changes when the tech did not clean up. BMW had this feature on an older V8, maybe the N62? So it should have known to include it on other models with upside down housings located in tight spaces. |

Part number 11-42-7-615-389 Only reason I haven't done this is because I would be concerned with the dealer changing my oil still and either losing it, damaging it, or having some other issue with it. Definitely will grab an oem one now since all I care about is the mess haha.

(11-42-5-A34-A34) https://www.bmwpartsdirectusa.com/oe...5a34a34?c=az0x This is from bmw etk searching with my 22 m5c vin. Then you have to buy the oil filter kit part number (11-42-5-A33-C43) which comes with a drain plug supposedly (I am testing this out right now) since per the TSB the oil filter kit doesn't come with a gasket for the oil filter cap drain plug. I'll lyk on Friday or so if thus oil filter kit contains the drain plug or the gasket for it at least. But it's 20$ for the oil filter kit, and the cap is around 50-60 |

They usually don't put in letters with the numbers so this is odd. I'll verify with BMW of Silverspring but they look to be the same thing.

Edit: did some research and apparently this has been a thing for quite some time on the old N63. They just didn't use on S63 engines? Idk. Whatever. But I did see that you get to finally use that extra small o ring that comes with your filter finally lol.

Yup, but for example the oil filter set for my car doest have a pic or go with any vehicle either, could just be "too new". The part numbers I came up with are from bmws system for my vin.

Yeah I'm 99.99% sure it's the same thing lol but keep us updated. I'll also let you know with the drain plug since apparently it may or may not be single use, but most oil change kits don't come with the o ring for it (trying to get fcp euro to stock the bmw kit so I don't have to keep buying from bmw if this works out)

There is probably still some old stock of the old part that they want to differentiate with the letter in the PN but have no plans to make more of the old design so there is no need for a totally new PN. My guess—I did not ask BMW.

The bmw kit(getting it tomorrow) supposedly comes with a new drain screw and if that's the case it'll mean it's most likely not meant to be reusable. But my f10 m5 for example didn't have a drain screw so who knows haha. |
