New Car opinions needed
My Beloved M5 may be leaving my collection on the 15th so I'll be looking for a new daily and just wanted to get some opinions on what others have moved onto after the m5. or added to their garage with the m5. Thanks
Heres what I'm looking into currently. I've driven most of these and made the list according to how I feel about them. option 1: Panamera turbo option 2: g80 m3 xdrive option 3: b9.5 rs5 competition option 4: 992 base carrera option 5: 718 cayman gts option 6: g90 m5 (slightly unrealistic due to the delivery time)

1-G90 (if time wasn’t a factor)
2-panamera turbo 3-M3 4-RS5(older platform and down on power in comparison to M3) 5-carrera/cayman(I utilize the back seats as a daily so these don’t appeal to me.) 1/2 would really be a toss up. |

I would at least wait until you see the details and review of the G90.
Are all the cars in your current garage signature currently actually in your garage? If so there is quite a bit of redundancy? No? And also appears you have plenty of options to drive if you booted the f90 and waited for G90? I'll be facing a similar dilemma having to wait for a G90, that is IF I decide I want a G90 after I see the detail. If it's an absolute HELL NO, then other cars I would consider are : -a low mile f90 CS I would keep forever. -the new AMG GT 2 door looks pretty sweet, and i'm sure an S version will come along soon. Which could be cool. -pre-owned 911 Turbo S -Panamera Turbo -M8 Comp (2 dr) -Ive even tossed around getting another G63 if I decided to leave the saloon/sports car world. I drive my wife's all the time, and it's so much fun to drive. Very different than saloons of course, and fun in a different way. But it could be awesome to have 2 G63s -other options would be to find something older and more exotic/rare like a GT3 or 488, Huracan, that I wouldn't have to pay an arm and a leg for and could get a good deal on. You know the F90 is a great car, when you have people trying to figure out what to do if the G90 is a dog. LOL. BMW I think had a big winner with the F90, and it will be hard to find a better all around car. |

Option 1 - understandable Option 2 - midsize car, no V8 Option 3 - midsize car, no V8 Option 4 - midsize car, no V8 Option 5 — do you not need back seats anymore? Option 6 — makes the most sense to me, can totally understand the timing issue however as I went through that myself. Forgive me, I’m not being standoffish here or a smart aleck. I just genuinely don’t see the comparison unless, again, as I mentioned, you’re looking for something different. The middle options will never fill the void of the F90 if you like it that much IMO. Just my $0.02. EDIT — I know the 5 series is generally considered a midsize car, but the midsize cars on your list are smaller than an M5 obviously.

If you’re looking for something different as opposed to a similar replacement, and don’t mind less power, there are some great cars on that list.

I don't HAVE to have 4 doors, it's nice to have them, but I could get by ok with a coupe. So ive looked pretty hard at the new AMG GT 2dr. They made some great improvements, AWD being one of them. and I think it looks great. Not as raw as the SLS, SLR, or original amg gt, but it looks promising. the M8 is cool, but if I went 2 doors, I think I would want something smaller than an M8. But who knows!. |

I turned in my M5 lease to the dealer and then got 2 cars to replace it.
2023 Audi R8 2023 Audi S8 BMW doesn't have any cool cars right now, so I had to go back to Audi this time around. The R8 was a 2 year long planning process from initial order to delivery. My M5 lease was ending March 2023. So in Nov 2021, I placed an order for an R8 just to see if I could get an allocation. I was lucky and got the last allocation from my dealer in FL. So I let the M5 go and waited for the R8 to arrive. For a few months I was down to just 1 car, which was not good because that car ended up in the shop for 2 months. I had to drive a loaner car from the dealer for that time. So, I decided to lease the 2023 S8 as a daily driver replacement for the car that was in the shop. The S8 lease is 3 years, ending in September 2026. My plan is to lease the next M5 at that time. Last edited by subterFUSE; 01-17-2024 at 05:24 PM.. |

Rough riding is the biggest complaint I read about the X5M. Maybe they retuned the shocks or softened the springs since. Performance drops with the added weight, but as part of that compromise you get more cargo capacity. I would prefer the Cayenne Turbo if I had to drive an SUV.
