Here in Middle GA, few even know what an F90 is. They just see a 5-Series BMW and move on. I'm not one to drive my car like I stole it, but recently, I couldn't resist. I had a heavily modified Charger pull up behind, lifted his leg and "urinated" on my left fender as he passed me at high speed. Well, I wasn't having it and F90 schooling ensued. While the kid's exhaust was 3x louder than my MPE, and he was quick, I think he was surprised when he looked in his RVM and saw me close the gap on his bumper in no time (I have no performance mods either). While these cars aren't 911 Turbo speed off the line, they pull like a locomotive through the mid 100s and that's where you can surprise many muscle cars (and risk going to jail) who think you are a sleeper car. I backed off before we hit triple digits on my HUD as I'm not going to lose my security clearance over a contest that won't matter even 5 minutes later. After telling the wife my adventure, following the eyeroll, "Congrats, now go take out the trash."

I had a fairly young driver in a A45s tailgating me when he literally saw me just pulling out of the garage. I wasn't even mad at him, because I know he did it in good spirit and I would've given him a run if I the oil temp was optimal.

I think in the one year I've owned the car, I've only gotten one thumbs up from a guy in his 20s. He wasn't driving a BMW. Today, a lady in her 60s asked me if my car was a Maserati. I feel most people don't know what an M5 is and I'm perfectly fine with that.

My experience here in Melbourne, AUS, it’s always the kids with S3s, A/CLA45s and Ford Mustangs. Most of them know it’s an M5 but their young blood to disregard the rules and show off takes over. I let it slide most of the times with a laugh but sometimes I don’t when the conditions are right.
Other M drivers do it to me but it’s different. There is always a wave or thumbs up. Don’t get me started on Tesla drivers. They just do that everyone driving a car with an exhaust! |

I like to rev a little next to Tesla's at a light (if I know it's a Plaid)...then pull away nice and slow
