it really doesn't matter lol.

Tracking cars and getting them beat on has nothing to do a simple cold start.

Best thing to do? Put it in gear and just fucking drive.

But again, it still doesn't matter. Do a cool down lap of course, then just go park it without the emergency brake.

Yeah after a 25-30 minute session I'm doing more than just a cool down lap and turning it off, but that's my preference.

My cool down is when I drive onto the road for our neighborhood. I am doing 25mps at the most for a couple of minutes at least and while I park the car is idling for a 30 seconds or so. Most of the time the fans stay on for a few minutes after the engine is off. Even with outside ambient temperature of around 55F to 65F.

My f90 fans stay on after shut down and can take over 5min. Just bought a 22 m340i and it does not have any cooling after the shut down. 🥹

There must be a pump to cool down the turbo - its just probably really quite. If my 335 had it I'm sure your 340 will.

Nah I hear nothing on the m340i. It does have those open and close shutters on the grilles that come on some of the newer cars.

That is cool that it has pumps to keep coolant flowing and oil flowing after shut off. I hope that is true. You would think the oil pump and water pump would be driven by the chain on the motor, but hopefully somehow there are auxiliary pumps. Must be a cool setup.

There is a mechanical engine coolant pump along with four electric coolant pumps. Two for the engine and two for the turbos utilizing two separate cooling circuits.
Oil pump is driven by a chain when the engine is operating.

yes u can hear it, and you can place your fingernail on the turbo coolant lines and it will buzz from the vibration of fluid pulsing through
the car also periodically cycles the fuel pump and lines.
like bc its healthy when a car sets for days or weeks.
my f10 did it as well

35mph for a mile in comfort mode, pop hood, let idle 1-3 minutes. fans dont come on.
the cool down cruise in comfort is critical. the turbos spin much slower in comfort thereby facilitating the goal of chillin it out.
i also let it cool down with hood open after shutoff.
the valve seals are supposedly made with the good stuff now, but i know how heat and radiant heat, and insulation works. as well as dissipation. so im good to it.
i also removed the hood mat.
