I heard people saying that for the turbos , it was better to wait 30 secondes , other says 2 minutes , and also some say that you don't need to wait at all.

Curious to know how you guys a treating your engines

I personally wait close to 2 minutes.
Sounds way to anal to me and who the hell has the patience?! lol

for what it's worth... I have flown several aircraft types that had turbo charged (turbo normalized) engines and there are usually always cooling procedures before you shut down the engine. that could be as simple as letting it run at idle for a period of time until specific temperatures are within a certain range.

Probably has nothing to do with this but I thought I would mention!

When you shut down the F90 the fans kick on big time, you can feel the heat getting blown out even on shorter drives.

Nope. No need. Cooling fans run for a long time after shut down.

And what do you think cools the turbos?

The same shit that cools the engine.

So yes, the fans and I assume the pumps for oil/coolant are running to cool down the entire system.

I heard it's a good idea to let the RPM's drop before driving off from a cold start.

The cold start for our cars is just an emissions thing to warm up the cats quicker. Just don't start your car cold and drive it hard, you're fine. Cold start delete is actually a popular mod to do if you don't have cats.

I usually wait until my idle drops before I put the car in reverse to back out the garage. It drops pretty quick.

You really don't need to do this.

I just drive my car and enjoy it. I turn it off when I have arrived at my destination. I gun my engine on startup if that moves me. I will not worry or be anxious about my engine.

I also keep my hood open to let the hot air out.

The car literally sounds like a jet engine for 5 minutes after you switch the engine off. Obvious proof that there is a cooling system in place to cool things down after you switch the engine off.

So why would you do this?

So, when the engine is at idle, all of the oil drops to the pan, leaving everything un-lubricated. Yeah that sounds like a logical mechanical design choice...

That's what I'm doing too.

Engaging D (or R) while cold start is doing it's thing puts stress on the gearbox, at least that's what I think.

After doing 2Day M school I started letting it run for a few minutes. The on-site guys said it makes a difference and they deal with cars being beat down

it really doesn't matter lol.

Tracking cars and getting them beat on has nothing to do a simple cold start.

Best thing to do? Put it in gear and just fucking drive.
