Loose side trim

Hi,

The side trim on my M5 is not clipped in properly. I wont be back at the dealer for at least a few months. Is there a DIY solution? I dont want to break the clips as it probably wouldn't be covered by warranty anymore.

Are there instructions for taking it out or is it safe to push it in?

The issue is only on the right side, the left is fine. See photos.

From the pics I don't see anything loose? Anyways, I replaced mine with carbon fiber ones and it's dead simple. To install them you just line it up and push it in. So, if you feel anything loose pushing the clips back in is definitely what you should do. In case you need to remove them just put some painter's tape around the vents (to protect the paint against the pry tool) and use a pry tool to pry it out.

The top of the vent surround in the second picture, not the piece that sticks out.

these are PITA to get off. did you replace them?

push it in a little, it should clip in. if it doesn't you're going to have to remove it and do it that way.

Nope, they were like this from the factory.

Is there instructions with all the clip locations somewhere?

Did you get this fixed? I’m having the same issue on both sides. The entire trim (2 pieces) are just lose from the body of the car. I have to assume it is supposed to fit tightly in there.

The side grills are so easy....
You can literally pull them off by hand and just click them back in.
I did that to swap them to black form the OE chrome.
Just pull them out don't be shy ,,, then snap them back in
