B48 ECU and Transmission Tuning

Hey,

I am planning to go stage 2 on my BMW 430i very soon. I have been running stage 1 for a few months now without any problems or major upgrades to the car.

For the stage 2, I am swapping out the downpipe which is the only thing that seems mandatory. The tuner made note of factory torque limiters on the car (8HP50 -> 440NM). Based on my calculations, after the tune I should be about 450NM of torque. They say I can either lift the limiter in the transmission via xHP or bypass the torque limiters altogether with the tune.

What do you guys recommend. Will it be an issue if I don't tune the transmission and proceed with the stage 2 tune. The car is only pushed hard maybe once or twice a month so I don't want to mess with the transmission if I don't need to but I don't want to damage the transmission by not tuning it if necessary,

I world go with the xhp transmission tune over the ECU bypass as there will still be safeguards within the xhp tune. There is absolutely none with the ECU bypass. To replace the gearbox will cost way more than the additional cost of the gearbox tim tune!

The ZF 8HP50 supports up to 500nm of torque. It was the earlier 8HP45 that was 450 NM of torque. Whose your tuner?

Either way xHP is the the answer. I can't recommend it enough. I wish that was my first tune on the car as it's fantastic
