What's with the throttle delay on these engines?
No not turbo lag. Throttle lag! Are BMW holding back in hope to extend the lifespan of the gear box / drive train?
We drove a brand spanking new 1 series this week.. and it is much the same as our 2012 F30 320D... there is a delay when you put your foot down... I think people will know what I am talking about... some are not bothered by it and have learned to live with it... others like myself consider it stupid and dangerous... especially when pulling out of junctions. I came across a thread online and someone has measured it as 0.3 seconds delay... What are the solutions? |

Can this not be replaced with a different system or something?
I don't like the idea of boosted throttle. The pedal would be all over the place as by the time you are half way on the pedal, you are near wide open throttle so kicking down beyond the point of resistance would do nothing. Also imagine if you you don't invest in one with different settings. That is probably asking for it in snow and ice type conditions. Wish they would make it like my E92. No noticeable throttle lag whatsoever. Last edited by Soul_Glo; 09-07-2016 at 03:34 AM.. |

I know! Just become lazy that's all. Once upon a time loved manual. However, the auto box has come a long way. My 8 speed ZF is lightening fast and more economical than a manual... hardly feel the shifts... always in the correct gear for the given situation but doesn't want to cooperate for take offs.

Bought one for my daughter's 335d, and it provides near-instant response and makes the car "feel lighter." 100% will solve your issue. |

This "phenomenon" is torque management applied by the DDE. It's perfectly normal, expected and personally I wouldn't have it any other way. It's part of learning how to drive a diesel. Gear teeth, axle splines and various other driveline hard parts tend to be expensive and time-consuming to repair.

If you want a 335d to go FAST, your right hand should get used to its new life on the gearshift lever
Oh and give her a shot of Howes, bad diesel fuel + no additives = drastic loss of response |
