Since my wife has been insistent on getting another (I totally thought she'd never get in a car with me again after the crash let alone be the one pushing for a new m5 considering she doesn't even drive) I'm happy to say I have an order placed for a 2023 m5, production number secured and waiting on final confirmation on how much the price gouging for my interior color... only thing different from my old build will be the carbon ceramic brakes because the dust is simply ridiculous on the m compounds (I can wash the car and literally 2-3 brake applications later wheels are brown again).

Now the wait once again begins lol, I'm told I most likely won't be seeing the car until next summer if my interior goes through and depending how much they want to charge (may have to go through safety testing). Don't want to jinx anything so I'll keep the exact colors a mystery until I have final confirmation that all is good.

Let's see how this plays out!

Edit: Exterior color confirmed: frozen orange!

Edit2: To do or not to do 16k for the interior...

Yay, you are back! The carbon ceramic brakes are amazing and you will not regret getting them.

Was I ever gone?🤣🤣 this time I'm getting agreed upon value insurance on the car though, I don't want to deal with insurance if something happens again...

That’s a good point you bring up. In today’s crazy market, hard to say what to expect if there is an accident. I’m going to look into it as well.

My main issue is I had the most expensive m5 ever built, my next one is going to be even more, all the comparable cars (other m5s) are selling for 120k, but they had msrps of 118-120k, they're trying to compare my car to those (my msrp was 157k) and offering me 123k since mine has lower mileage... somehow those cars are valued at 100% and mine depreciated miraculously by 25%🤣. So just keep in mind if your car is optioned out significantly insurance is gonna give you a hard time, especially with via options because they don't show up on their experian vin report...

Edit: the only real way to combat this is to just deny their offer, let them do whatever they do on the back end, don't bug them or seem desperate for a payout, and let the file sit for weeks or months, eventually when they get audited or even before if the supervisor notices they're gonna be like wtf why is there a 3 month old claim still open on a total loss? Then they get pressured to close the claim and are more likely to bend to your terms. If you can afford to keep making the payments in the mean time and pretend you've got until the end of time to resolve this the ball is in their court because they want speedy resolutions. So currently I'm playing the game, my adjuster is "speaking to his supervisor" because the valuation company that did the report basically said this is what the car is worth tough luck even after I explained I have more options and those cars haven't depreciated at all (with exact msrps from bmw).

How’s the squealing in normal driving? Any more compared to the standard rotors?

Significantly less break dust alone might be worth the upgrade

I have a 2022 M5 Comp with the CCB's and they do not squeak at all, very quiet and my wheels look great with no brake dust on them.

Mine squeal a little if I'm in a lot of stop and go traffic now, but it clears off with some aggressive breaking. No break dust to speak of.

Standard ones are the same for noise, but the dust is infernal lol, but in terms of noise it's been debated back and forth with the whole aggressive driving thing and I'm not gonna get into it again, but literally the owners manual states stop and go traffic causes squeaking go press brake pedal harder to stop squeaking 🤣🤣 this is almost in the realm of the "you may experience clacker noises" from the f10 transmission cuz that thing freaking clunked like someone smacked the underside with a sledgehammer when in s3🤣🤣🤣🤣

Clean wheels vs 20 miles home from the wash...

I had CCBs on my 2022 F90, no noise. Virtually no dust.

I have steel brakes on my F97 that I'm driving now. I hate them. (I had steel on my F80 as well).

I will never order another BMW without CCBs so long as they are available in the model line. Pretty much don't care what they cost.

Dude, happy wife happy life. Sounds like she is a keeper. If it happened to me I don't think my girlfriend would walk by my car ever again let alone push me to get another one. Happy for you regardless, hopefully the leasing landscape softens a little by the time it arrives.

I don't lease I finance so makes no difference to me. I mean it took me 2 months to put 6k miles on the car and had more trips planned but just 6k every 2 months and that's 36k a year bye bye lease hello extra mileage charges🤣
zb2603 Neptune7 exterior color confirmed as frozen orange, waiting for interior confirmation now.

happy to hear you're coming back dude! assuming the INDIVIDUAL colors are what is driving the year wait. I'm a year out on my lease and looking to put a build in for a '23. Just trying to figure when i need to so the timing lines up with lease end. Don't need 2 payments, lol.

Yeah individual is what's driving the wait, not the exterior since I'm not doing a full individual exterior (the have a color list you can pick from that's still individual but like they're already approved colors if that makes sense) Interior I have to wait 3-4 weeks to get a reply from bmw ag to see if they're willing to do it and then if it needs fire testing it's gonna cost even more...
