I am looking forward to it.

I am considering to trade my F82 M4 for F90 M5, but was waiting for CP.

Is there any other version of M5 considered to go on sale? Will there be maybe CS version, like on F80/F82?

there will be 4 versions per M car in the future

regular version
comp pack
CS
CSL ( 2 door models only)

As it is.. lots of fans " wait for LCI" so... or.. wait for ZCP aka Comp Pack.. so... aside from the CS models.. which I am sure will come latest.. looks like BMW is just removing the reason for buyers to play the waiting game.

I hope the comp package comes with better looking wheels.
Agree with the first part but not the latter. The car will become stale just in the same way it did before.

ANY product ; particularly ones with a lot of technology, becomes stale in the market place after a period of time..

Let's just hope that vehicle manufacturers don't begin cutting power as the vehicle ages via firmware updates , to protect from "unwanted shutdowns. "

Oh PLEASE have a better wheel option that isn't blacked out... or 70% blacked out. Give me silver wheels! Late sept Euro Delivery for Oktoberfest again would be ideal

I've heard such things about the current F15 X5, that there will be no LCI update. So now I'm wondering if BMW will do the same with the G30/F90? Especially since it seems like they are introducing a Com Package so early in the lifecycle.
According to ynguldyn's model roadmap thread, EOP for the G30 is still scheduled for 10/23, so I assume it follows the standard 7 year cycle (MY2017 to MY2023) with a LCI in between.

The F15 X5 does have a shorter lifecycle than usual from MY2014 to MY2018, but I wonder if the increasing competition in this segment and potential cost savings of switching to the CLAR platform with the G05 X5 are pushing BMW to do a full model refresh earlier rather than spend money on an LCI.
Ah good info. Thanks! So for now I am assuming we'll see an LCI update of the F90 M5 as early as 2019 as the 2020 Model Year F90 M5. That's like 18 months from now if the LCI comes out in summer/fall of 2019. I wonder what the new headlights are gonna look like?
I think the updated headlights will be the same as we have seen on the next X5 and X7 with the darker look.i really hope they do this with the blacked out grills etc.

Lovely.

My guess is about 1% of people who buy it will actually see and exploit the difference over a regular M5. But 90% will win bragging rights or Top Trumps

It's not about exploiting the difference, competition package BMWs typically have firmer suspension setups and other differences that you can feel every mile you drive the car. They offer both versions because some people like their M car biased a little more towards every day comfort and some of us wish the car's three modes were Race, Race+ and Race+++

Comp pack. Hmm. Who's is competing? I've never seen a newer M5 at any track days or DEs.

Anyway, I do have an M3 that sees DEs about 8 days per year. I want the new m5 but have a hard time believing it won't trash its tires after the first 3 hours. That is a lot of weight to swing around.
I was kind of miffed that I got my M3 too soon and missed out on ordering the comp pack.
Nice to see BMW offer it so soon.

For me the m5 is the 4dr luxury awd GTR I've always wanted. (Panama doesn't count due to ugly factor)

I don't have much interest in the comp pack M5. I will likely stick with the regular M5 for the 2020 model year.

Not sure I get this approach by BMW. I’d certainly be annoyed if I had a car in production. I’d be shocked if they included CCBs in the package. Too expensive an option to include in a package.

Will be tempting to pick up one of these slightly used for a significant discount in a few years ;-)

obviously you never buy the first model year BMW. Used to be for reasons of issues and reliability concerns. Now it's because the model you really want comes out only a year after.

Yeah. 90% of people will just wait for the comp pack.

Geez. Forget what I said earlier....mandatory CCB's is a turn off and many will forgo the comp pack if you have to add CCB's to get it. This is BMW trying to inflate the price of the car

esquire Thank you for sharing, as I have taken 3 BMW Driving Experience Events to date and lots of information is shared by the staff, as some employees are also test enginer drivers for BMW M as the programs are via BMW M.

Would love feedback on the Snow & Ice, as I was planning on taking this winter in Sweden, as I was at the BMW Driving Academy this past September and asked Claudia how to arrange flights to Arjeplog, and all of dates were already booked up then. Next year!

For anyone else reading this thread and interested in traveling to Arjeplog, Sweden, BMW uses FlyCar

Meanwhile on the back end of the timeline, the car design would become stale. LCI in the middle of the timeline avoids both of those consequences.

Has there been any announcement (other than conjecture) that BMW actually intends to begin roll out LCI's earlier in their timeline?
With this same logic, I thought that's why they rolled out comp packs later in the years. So that the same model in the later years has some "zest" to sell before the next LCI.
