140mph Top speed
Got back on Sunday from our family trip to Germany.
Its the first time I have driven on a deregulated road (with a road car). I can honestley say it is awesome driving along with the foot to the floor with no worry of blue lights and a court appearance! I managed to get to the top speed of 140mph without any difficulty. Only problem was finding a clear spot to do 140mph. The car is great at 120mph plus. It sounds awesome at 120 onwards. I thouroughly recommend having a go on the Autobahn. Just be very careful with the two lane stretches as the lorries do pull out without warning! |

Its quite hard to find a clear spot during the day or night as there seems to be lots of lorries or bends on hill climbs to deal with. I would have thought the Autobahn would have been made like a roman road.
The best bit is having the foot to the floor with no worry of any blue lights - only the lights of another BMW flashing you in the rear view!!! I think it would have gone to 155 on a longer run - I may try again next year... The official limit is 140mph for my 320si I know bigger E90's have 155mph as their limit |

I remember some talk on z4um.com about this and someone actually saying the limited top speed of 155 wasn't as easily achievable in 6th gear, and better to go for it in 5th.

The A45 through Hochsauerland (from Frankfurt to Dortmund) I like the best. Nice scenery, perfect roads and most of the time it is almost empty, especially around the small towns (not around Frankfurt or Dortmund).
You can 'cruise' here for at least an hour at top speed if you like. But watch out for crossing deers (I experienced that last summer when travelling at a steady 200km/h, just missing the deer by about half a meter) |

ES-Jet I thought the same would be the case.
I was quite suprised at the amount of concrete motorway stretches. Doing 110 on wet concrete is an experience in its self. |
