Need help with 2 wheel dive setting

Ok so I read the manual, made all of the adjustments into M2 drive, sport plus etc, including 2 wheel drive selection, but when I press my M2 button (twice) it still shows 4 wheel drive on the cluster. What am I doing wrong?

You’re sure you’ve got DSC set to “Off”, with 2WD set up for your M2 button? I haven’t used it yet, but I understand you used to have to press the M button twice if you have it set to any of the DSC off settings—once to request and again to confirm—while you are driving.

There is a known software glitch where the vehicle is in 2WD but the gauge cluster displays 4WD.

If this is the case that is a definite safety issue. Seems like BMW would issue a stop sale and recall. You could get into trouble quick with this car if you are in 2 wheel drive and think you are in all wheel drive

M2 has little to do with it unless you've programmed it to be RWD. The M buttons are merely shortcuts.

Did you consciously select 2WD within iDrive? If not, that's your problem.

I think you didn't save your setting when you was done
I did the same error at the beginning

So just a software glitch on the display but it's actually in 2 wheel drive?

Settings are definitely saved. When I exit the setup and then go back in, it shows that I selected 2 wheel drive but still says 4 wheel on the instrument cluster

I can't replicate this error.

I've reported the issue to my dealer. I'm 100% sure it appeared after "Technical Campaign 0012470500 Programming the control units". I absolutely agree that its a security issue. I suggest more people report it so it gets a higher priority @ BMW.

Affirmative. I first noticed the glitch back when this was posted.

BTW there is a new software update that fixes this. I had it applied a while back and it now changes in the Instrument cluster to match the setting requested.

I'm always hesitant to have the dealership update my software. I'm afraid they will remap the ECU and the car won't perform as it does now

I'm on the latest software version and can't replicate this bug. If it existed in the last version, it has been fixed. Curious if this was uniform for the last version or just partially effects certain models.
