two-piece wheels leaky?

I keep reading on forums that two-piece wheels suffer from more leaks because the seal between the two halves can become compromised.

Is this a problem with old designs, or also with more current wheels like the BBS BMW F01 7-Series CH-R II Wheel for example?

I've had two-piece 21" wheels on my last three M5's with no issues.

Is there really a seam between the two pieces? I always thought that the second piece is just the cover that's screwed on. I never thought there would literally be a seam running halfway through the inner wheel.

There u go .. like I said, I've never had any issues with two-piece wheels. Go with a Monoblock if it is a concern for you.

Thanks for the diagram. Oof. That is not going to be as foolproof as a single piece.

BBS 2 piece wheels have no place to leak. The rim is a single piece and the face is the second piece. The potential for leaking occurs with 3-piece wheels because they are a lip and barrel bolted together which can possibly leak. That being said, I have never had that occurs with BBS 3 piece (E88).
