Picked up a 2022 yesterday after six months of watching the dots slowly move on MyBMW. Lot's of threads on this but I figured I'd add my $.02.

From Akra to M Performance- M Performance is a bit louder and deeper. I was surprised how different the overall sound is. I unplugged the Akra valves long ago so that's not the difference. I don't notice any change in overrun characteristics, except for the M5C above 40mph (still has them). The 2022 is definitely not muted or tamed in the exhaust (USA car…)

Sport + to Sport +, the suspension is very comfortable in the M5C. Easily livable as a daily. Turn in feels sharper ( more camber?)

M5C throttle is more sensitive in a good way. Feels more aggressive on tip-in. Don't know if that's a model year thing or Comp thing. Makes the car more engaging to drive for me.

Shifts feel softer in the M5C, but I'm not beating on it just yet, so maybe a bit early for that observation.

I like the exterior design changes, but that's all subjective.

The updated instrument panel and 60" TV on the dash are what they are. I'd prefer having the individual settings on the center console as before. The Mode button apparently only changes the instrument panel view. Uh, ok.

Digital key. If you say so. I can't get it to work and the genius isn't.

CCB. Smooth as butter. Not grabby and not a single noise (in all 22 miles)

The only thing my car is "missing" is the wireless charging (funny that it still has the wireless icon on the mat). I was able to keep the Rocky and Bullwinkle sound.

Overall I love the car and it feels like a big improvement over the 2018 base. To those waiting and watching the dots, it's well worth the wait.

My experience is that the MPE will continue to get louder and sound even better as it breaks in.

👍. I do need to adjust the tips. From factory they're tucked so far under the bumper it's ridiculous.

Congrats on the M5 Comp! Looks great.

The mode button changes the instrument panel (and HUD) and depending on the mode will reduce the intelligent safety features (e.g., lane departure) and driving assistance capabilities. Track mode will turn off all driving assistance and intelligent safety features and turn of the central information display. Sport & Track display the tach in the HUD as well.

Digital key: to set up, place the key card in the tray. The car should recognize it and ask if you want it activated. If it's the iphone digital key card, you'll need both keys in the car, the car must not be on (no engine), in the myBMW app, you'll find the adding the digital key option. Follow the instructions on your iPhone.

Thank you for the clarity on the Mode button.

For the digital key (phone) we've tried over and over and it just won't pair. I give up.

Have you tried placing your phone in the tray and then going to car/settings/doors vehicle access/ activate main key? You'll also need both physical keys in the car.

Just drove it again and can't get over how much different the car sounds. I really expected MPE to be exactly like Akra.

Very good post! When you say overall better, meaning ride, build quality, user interface, performance (should be a given there unless you were tuned on your 18 base).

Just curious if it’s anything specific or a general combination.

Enjoy!

Thanks for your review. I found the ride quality in the 2022 much improved over the prior generation, do you feel the same?

Maybe not more aggressive, but it is louder. it has a deeper tone than the akra.

Just my general impression. I'm actually surprised how different it is than my base 18. Sounds better, more responsive, sharper. I didn't expect much of a difference, so it's been a pleasant surprise.

I'm coming from a base 18 to comp 22, and the ride is great. Definitely not stiffer or more harsh than the 18 base.

Congrats on your delivery. Great spec too. (my my WE do have good taste). Enjoy it in good health. And I'm glad to hear your comments about MPE as well - I was so worried it was going to be blah - but it's really terrific! (so much so that I'm thinking about having the cold start coded out of the car).
