Kudos to BMW...now, let's have a repeat on the next-gen and some trickle down to the base and comp models.

Plus a good showing for the M3...

Big win for the CS especially in a class with the GT3 which wins everything

Thanks for posting this. I especially liked the part where one of the reviewers said, “Everything it does…it does, not just a little bit better than an M5 competition, not just quite a bit better than an M5 competition, but massively better.”

I myself have not driven an M5 competition, but I can compare the CS to my ‘18 base M5 First Edition, and the CS blows the base M5 out of the water.

Car and Driver was able to get a CS from 0-60 in 2.6 seconds, and a quarter mile time of 10.5 seconds. To compare, I believe the 0-60 time for an M5 comp was 2.7 seconds (also ridiculously fast), with a quarter mile time of 10.8 seconds.

Here’s the link to the Car and Driver article. I think it says the CS is not any faster to 60mph than an M5 comp, but it clearly lists the CS as 0.1 seconds faster, so not sure if the “isn’t any faster” is an oversight?

I was very surprised with the outcome. I would have been happy with top 3 to be honest. I thought the GT3 would have won. This M5 CS is such a great car and I feel privileged to secure one.

Their review mirrors what I have noticed and talked about comparing the competition to the CS. I can't wait to fully open it up after breaking in to see what this beast can really do.

All the magazines seem to use 1ft roll out numbers, which put them .2-.3 seconds faster than how it seems most others (to include the car manufacturers) measure the time. This doesn't refute anything per se, as they are comparing apples to apples in terms by measuring all the cars the same way. Just something to keep in mind when a car reviewer or forum member with a Dragy (and not Vbox) posts a best time of 3.0 seconds and then Motortrend or some mag seems to be the only one reporting 2.7s. Numbers are just rough examples and not digging up specific cases to be exact.

Magazine review and video review never even mentioned the interior. Just the driving dynamics itself speaks volumes.

Joe Achilles was able to do 2.75 seconds to 60mph without rollout in his video. This has been the fastest I have seen anyone do in the M5 CS.

Fast forward to 11:40 to see it.

He uses Racebox which has an option to enable 1ft roll out. Not sure if there is a way to tell if that's enabled or not from looking at the screen. If it's not enabled that indeed is some blistering speed but then it's suspiciously close to the magazines that definitely use it.

First the M2 CS and now this. What legendary models from BMW at a time when it sometimes feels like all hope is lost from the brand.

I wish the basic M cars felt more like how the CS supposedly are.

Yep, doesn't make sense. The same article lists the M5 at 2.7 then mentions a 2.6 with a 2019 M5, which had the older ZF transmission. Not sure if the results are comparable.

These guys get it.
CS models are not for everyone but for the enthusiast with a love of driving they are everything. It's great that there is small super passionate team at BMW that are bringing these models to life.

Ive never used racebox so I don't know for sure. In any case I'll be doing my own 0-60 tests with launch control after breakin to confirm.
