Great thread.

Do you mind if I ask why you went with 20" wheels instead of upgrading to 21"?

Was that because it's somehow better for track use, or because there are more PS4S tire options in 20", or some other reason?

I'm deciding whether to go 20 or 21 inch HREs and interested in why you stick with 20s when everyone seems to go with a larger 21 inch rim:

Thanks for the kind words.

21" is definitely a looker! And also a decent track performer.

I do plan on tracking with this set up, and while overall weight changes with a forged wheel like HRE are minor, rotational inertia goes up quite a bit (you can feel it in the steering wheel). I also like having a little more sidewall to reduce the anxiety when attacking the curbing on track.

The team at HRE are extremely helpful at helping you make an informed decision as their wheels are quite an investment, but worth their weight in gold

Love the subie color combo... and killing 44 lbs of unsprung weight is killer. Crazy that 20s actually look small on this car but I like the look of a meatier sidewall too.

I like where this build is headed.

Thank you for the love!

I still remember when I first saw the Subaru WRC STI car debut at the San Francisco Int'l Auto Show over 10 years ago.

I think the color scheme is fitting for this AWD monster, though I have yet to take her off-roading or rallying...suppose the closest I would get is an unintended off at a track day.

I am on the fence about going 20" or 21". I've had 21's on my F10 M5 and my M6GC. I thought I had finally thrown in the towel as the roads are terrible and 20" look good on the F90.

However, the tires on the setup look like they have way more sidewall than stock. Is that because you went wider? Or is my vision just off?

We've been trying to figure this out ourselves. He went with 0.5" wider wheel font & rear with tires than are 10 mm's wider (which equals roughly 0.4").

We speculate it probably comes down to the wheel that is chosen and how the spoke design is near the outer edge of the wheel.

If you'd like to discuss this a bit more feel free to reach out. We own a F90 as well and tested various different wheels & fitments.

These tires are wider than OEM and results in a higher aspect ratio and more sidewall. If you just remounted the tires off your 20" then the sidewall would look like stock.

I appreciate the additional sidewall around the roads on LA and when attacking the curbing at the track.

Love everything except those wheels, they don't fit the style of the car at all, and for the first time ever, I don't like gold wheels. That's a JDM boy drifter looking wheel. Perfect otherwise
