I'm glad they've done this. The BMW dash/interface on most of the M models was starting to look quite outdated compared to the RS & AMG offerings.

Too much Tech in the cars...I would still prefer analog cluster....it maybe just me...the digital cluster seems so sissy and unreal after a while.

The benefit of digital dashes is to allow a driver to display the information that he or she wants in the way he or she wants to see it. BMW's designers seem to be hung up on gimmicky graphics and colors (let's switch the color to red when you select Sport Mode - WOW!!!), but provide almost no real customizability. Look at how Porsche, Audi and Merc are doing digital dashes for real leadership in the future of this UI.

Why would you want a revamp engine?

Would you agree that a new engine would produce new problems?

The S63 engine block has proven to be a lynchpin in the BMW engine hierarchy.

Besides, I love New things but not a engine which hasn't been tried and tested.

I'm excited for digital dashes to one day replace navigation screens completely. Let's return to car interiors that had no floating screen above the ac vents but at least doing so with a digital dash you still get the features that you would get from a Navi e.g., music control, maps, etc

Given what we've seen just from the F90's non CP S63B44T4, I agree. S55, not so much.

Plus. These engines have been in the 24 hour races.

At times we love too much New.

We do want loud tho. New exhausts FTW. lol

I wish instead of making stupid video about interface, BMW make video of how engineers are going to improving quality and address previous major engine issues like crank hub failures on S55 or valve steam seals, oil consumption issues with N63 etc, etc...

Until these electronic gauge clusters start providing a skin/mode with a central tachometer, I'm really not very motivated by them.

It looks very unnatural, almost fake, like being in some kind of Disney movie.

The more possibilities there are, the less you will use them. It`s about driving, not on a trillion way to install your dash.

There were times when BMW was leading in dash designs, but nowadays I'm not impressed to say.

Look how Porsche is doing, that design has really stepped up the game IMHO

In general; I`m not a fan of Digidash, I do like the traditional ones more.
Pretty sure the many possibilities aren't for "you" to cycle through constantly in a drive but more to appeal to a wider range. Allowing everyone to find the configuration they like best and stick with that not just get stuck with the one option some egg head at BMW chose for everyone. So many people with so many different tastes. It's actually pretty great whether you like the digital dash or not which I totally respect and understand. Not everyone likes technology. Still a pain to get my parents to use google instead of call me and ask simple questions.

And to be honest you're probably gonna have to start liking them cuz theyre the future. The analog dash will die probably within the next 10 years in 90% of the new cars out there.

BMW knows crap about good UI design.

They (and most car mfrs) are world's away from good interaction or good user interface. It's always an afterthought and looks year's old even on the brand new stuff.

Same here. I'm relatively young (32 years old) and absolutely LOVE new tech in life but for some reason can't stand the switch to digital clusters in the automotive industry. After driving cars with digital gauges for 15-20min I can't stand it. Just looks lame, cheap and well.....digital.

I stare at screens all day, when it's time to go for a drive just give me good old analog dials.

Dose anyone know whether it is still an "option" not to have the digital screens?

i'd love to see them put some effort into making the m-laptimer and its integration with GoPro a bit more user friendly. I'm missed recording many a run fiddling with it.
