Cool Installing Hidden iPod / iPhone Power / Input Cable

I used the Kensington LiquidAUX (http://us.kensington.com/html/14492.html) for this, but you can use what ever you want. This is in my UK E90 (so the driver sits in the right seat ) - It comes with the wireless control, but i chose not to use it

The finished product is this:

1) You start by taking off the gear stick. Simply grip the top, and pull with effort, but be careful not to smack yourself in the chin, like i did the first time

2) Next, you need to remove the boot. Simply push your fingers into the edges of the boot and get under it, then pull it up. It will snap off at various parts around the trim.

3) Remove the centre console. This is done by gripping the hole in the middle, and using some force to lift it. It will start to snap off.

Grip under the bit which has been exposed, and lift with your fingers until it snaps:

Once you've done the above, the whole console should be pretty loose. Now you take the back of the console, lift it and pull it back. The whole piece should come out.

Now you can see where the cable run will go. From the iPhone mount to the connections:

To put it back together, just follow the instructions in reverse. If you need any help, send me a PM!

Do you happen to know/remember how long that dock cable is from the power connector of the LiquidAUX?

I just got this kit today, tried it out for about an hour today. The sound quality is improved from the AUX that I was using. I would say it can achieve CD quality depending on the music files you are using. The included remote that attaches to the steering wheel is very sturdy and responsive. However, the plastic around the dock connector fell apart after first use, but was fixed using some super glue to hold it together. I got this kit from a seller on eBay for just $22 shipped. Alternatively, you can purchase the bluetooth version (compatible with OS 3.0+ with A2DP) from amazon for $25 shipped, but will require you to use the USB to iPod/iPhone cable to charge.

How about the bracket? I'm trying to find one on proclipusa.

This one looks similar to the one from the OP's but it looks like it mounts to the shift boot.

FYI: you don't have to remove the shift knob to remove the center console trim.

This is exacty what I was planning to try tomorrow.

Were you able to put back the tray inside the arm rest, or did you have to leave it out?

You can put the tray back in the armrest, I did a variation of this and it works wonderfully. Kudos to the OP for the idea.

i emailed OP and he said the bracket mount came with the car and the mount is from brodit. Proclipusa is a distributer for brodit brackets. It's just a matter of finding a mount.
