Not that this hasn't been repeated elsewhere in these forums, but after spending some time with BMW officials last week and driving the 135i, here's what will probably go down:
128i- base price $28,500 to $29,500 with leatherette, standard seats and suspension, no nav, halogen headlights 135i- base price ~$34,000 to $35,000 with leatherette, non-sport seats, sport suspension, xenon headlights, M-Sport body kit, fog lights Sport seats will likely be packaged with sport suspension as an option on 128i, and offered as a stand-alone option on the 135i. Premium package will be primarily leather and sunroof on both, though don't expect to find any non-sunroof cars on dealer lots. Technology package will include navigation and perhaps adaptive headlights. Official pricing is expected at the Los Angeles Auto Show November 14th, if it doesn't leak out before then. |

That said, I hope that Terra is available outside the Premium package as well. I just don't need all the crap in the premium package. I custom order my cars, and don't see the point in having all that stuff in my car if I don't want it. |

I never open my sunroof, hell I even close the cover for it so I forget I have one! Except when I ride with someone who adores it, and rips it open! To stay on topic, I really hope motor trend is right and the pricing is right for the cars niche, which to me is sport compact. If the 135i comes in close to 40k it seems to me that it would be overlapping the 335i not filling the gap. |

I went and test drove a 335i again for the heck of it two days ago at Century West BMW, and I was talking to the salesman about the 135 and 128, and he spoke pretty confidently when he said "$28k and some change" for the 128i, and "$32,800 for the 135i". So, take that as you will, all the speculation will be laid to rest very soon(and I'll be at the show to see first hand)...but I really hope he knows what he's talking about because I'm quickly getting my hopes up.

I doubt the official price will be revealed at the LA Auto Show when the car won't come out until late March 08.
Pricing usually is announced 1 month before. |

From the BMW USA 1-series Microsite:
The all-new 1 Series will go on sale Spring 2008, but you can build your own online and reserve yours starting this fall. From Irv at EDBMW: Within the next three months, many speculations will arise, but by the time the car hits the floors at the L.A show, BMW will release the pricing information and we can all plan ahead our next purchase. From the MWerks summary of the Gotland tech presentation: Pricing for the 1 Series will likely be announced at the Los Angeles auto show in mid-November, but the target price for the 135i is in the “mid-thirties” while the 128i in base form will come in under $30,000.From 1addicts' own TheUltimateDriver: Around Nov. 16thThis stuff about January or "1 month before sale" is hogwash. US pricing is imminent. And thank goodness. |

Yes I'm afraid he is and I also believe that we won't see the real pricing this week either. It's too early, way before the on-sale date. I suspect we won't see pricing until January at least. We'll know soon enough though (as to whether they release pricing ; -).

BMW announces 2008 BMW 1 Series Coupe pricing for U.S.
128i to start under $30,000 By Rory Jurnecka BMW used the LA Auto Show to officially announce pricing for its upcoming 2008 1 Series Coupe, due to hit showrooms in spring of 2008. Base prices will start at $29,375 for the 2008 BMW 128i, while the more powerful 135i will see an increase to $35,675. So which one to chose? Well, the 128i's 230 horsepower inline-six should prove adequate for many drivers, but those looking for more power will likely opt for the 135i that shares its 300 horsepower twin-turbocharged, 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine with the 335i. And we imagine there will be more than a few buyers for the more potent version. After all, this is the car that BMW is touting as a return to the enthusiast-oriented sports coupe roots it has in its classic 2002 model, sold from 1968 to 1976. BMW is relying on those roots to generate massive interest in its new 1 Series Coupe, and is expecting the car to be a success as soon as sales begin next year. The automaker's advertising campaign "Year One of the 1" places significance in purchasing the first model year of the 1 Series Coupe, even going so far as to engrave the vehicle's start button with the "Year One of the 1" phrase. Other incentives are given to first-year 1 Series buyers in the U.S., including a exclusive book chronicling the vehicle's development. BMW will also sell a 1 Series Convertible in the U.S., a car that will make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January. Sales are expected to start months after the first 1 Series Coupes hit showrooms. At the Tokyo Motor Show last month, BMW displayed a 1 Series tii concept which emphasized the coupe's sporty nature with an Alcantara-trimmed interior, sports-oriented suspension, and aerodynamic modifications, among other changes. |
