Annoying CEL P0040

Has anyone experienced this?
I reset it and cleared a couple of times and reappears within a day or two and stays!

I am buying OBD II Scanner so I can reset at will without having to go to BMW dealership, but I'm afraid that it might not be a safe or a good idea, since I heard it has to do with Fuel Tank leak?

Make sure the seal on your Gas cap is good, and you cap is on correctly. Also on fill ups don't top off after the nozzle clicks.

I had a CEL on my 2000 A6 4.2 Sport that made me DRIVE THE FRIGGEN THING 2.5 hours to the dealer to have them tell me the gas cap was loose. I got VAG-COM very shortly after LMAO.

Have to live with CEL for 2 more days I guess

The Dinan now sounds better and I like my car a lot more after Dinan exhaust it's really good! And louder for sure too

You needed to allow the baffling to blow thru on the exhaust- Im glad it sounds better.

All 5 series, included M5 had that recall.

Have gotten in touch with BMW dealership and they declined such a ubiquitous fuel line issue! And apparently met nothing across all the 5 series line up

Some of those hand held scanners can't read every code... specially when new models come out.
I got the same software that BMW uses, the software is huge it's like 300GB and the laptop top needs to be fast to be able to open up the software to read.
The name is ISTA+
I bought the new version that is for F and G platform plus it's used for mini and Royce Royce too.
And you can update the software too.
It took me a few days to get it to work how complex this is to download. Lol
